Kerry Challenges Bush on Iraq-9/11 connection
this is what we need more of...Kerry should hammer * on this from now until election day

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/09/12/kerry.powell.iraq/index.html

"Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry accused the Bush administration Sunday of falsely linking Iraq to the attacks of September 11, 2001, "in its desperate attempts to reinvent a rationale for the Iraq war."

Kerry made his charge in a statement released after Secretary of State Colin Powell said on NBC's "Meet the Press" that he has seen nothing to link Saddam Hussein's regime with the 9/11 attacks."

I agree.....Kerry needs to use his skills as a Criminal Lawyer and methodicaly layout bits and peices of the LIE that Shrub has told us all until it is a clear punishing indictment against them...

As was said earlier on the forum Kerry is a great closer and I have a hunch that Kerry is going to prove to America that Mr Chimp and Dick led us into a war in Iraq for no other reason than GREED....

4. Careful now, I think he only implied it..
I haven't listened to all of the Bushspeak, but I did listen to a few choice, pre-war speaches by Bush.
In most of them, he worded it implicitly, not explicitly. He would use Saddam and 9/11 in the same sentence over and over again but never say there was any link between Saddam and 9/11. He would utter the combination of the two in the same sentence like this,
"The world is a dangerous place since 9/11, Saddam gassed his own people."
It did the trick. His faithful followers picked up the two separate statements as one item.

5. A recent poll
found that 42% of the group surveyed STILL feel there is a connection between 9/11 and Saddam Hussein. I can't remember where I heard it but it has been over the last few days. I wonder if anyone else has heard this. I remember a quote from Alan Ginsberg from the 60's about whoever controls the media controls the people. We've been through almost 2 years of message linking by the Bush people, lockstep reporting by the major media and the Karlrovian response. It's really scary in a very Orwellian sort of way how this idea has persisted in almost half the country despite no evidence to back it up. I think Kerry is right to challenge Bush on this linking-but of course they'll deny that they actually meant to link the two. PERHAPS, challenging the link will somehow rattle some vestige of curiosity in the brains of some of those 42%-but I wouldn't bet on it.

6. Has Bush covered his tracks?
Bush has said in the past that there was no connection. It's just that he insinuates it very strongly. Cheney is another story.

I like this line the best:

"The president needs to answer the question: Who do you think is right? Vice President Cheney or Secretary Powell? And if it's Secretary Powell, will you direct your vice president to stop misleading the American people?"

7. Kerry should go futher...
and denounce the supposed links between Saddam and Al Quida. Bush and Cheney say this ALL the time.
