How is the mainstream press playing the CBS Bush memo thing now?
I have not watched the news all weekend and from DU I thought this was blown over but I just caught FOX news on a local affiliate and they are still spinning it big-time that they are probably forgeries and talking about someone being retired two years before the memos were sent. What's your take on how this is playing to most of the public? What is ABC, CNN, MSNBC and NBC saying now? Is this hurting us or helping us?

1. it seems they've moved on to more pertinent world issues
But right now I'm watching Star Wars on A & E.

I gave up watching TV news tonight when I saw two women commentators SCREAMING at each other - about Scott Peterson or MaryKay Latorneaux, or whatever. I thought, "good lord - look what * has brought us to.."

Fasten your seatbelt - it's gonna get ugly.

2. This is a loser imo,
CNN is saying much the same and msnbc is too (maybe not all the shows.I don't watch it much).

The people i have heard talking about it are saying "there fakes" and "It's just dirty politics",and a couple people (repubs) are saying "Kerry and the Dems did this because of the SBL".
I heard a few family members (repub and indpendant) laughing at CBS and Rather for "trying to prop up there forgeries".

Bush ALWAYS gets away with everything! Sigh!

4. expectations become realities
Don't fall in to Karlrovian response mode. As soon as we expect Bush to win, he has won. He cannot and must not win. This is THE election that must be won by John Kerry if we hope to live in a democratic society. If you think this hyperbole, think again.

7. NBC news tonight with John Segenthaler (sp)
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 02:30 AM by rmpalmer
was playing up they are fake and that Hodges was duped. Also that the memos were written more like in language of the Army or Navy, not AF.

William Safire in Monday column was laying out all the evidence that they're fake and even crediting Free Republic.

8. The media have not only lost their credibility,
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 02:23 AM by Andromeda
they've lost their frigging minds.

Rita Cosby on Faux News, Sunday night, had on Ben Barnes' daughter. You all know about Ben Barnes by now, I hope.

His daughter said her father was a Kerry supporter and could be lying about helping Bush get into the Texas National Guard and any memo about it could be a forgery. She said she didn't have any proof but that it possibly, maybe, could be a forgery but she didn't know for sure but since her father is a Kerry supporter his word isn't good enough and that's why he said what said about Bush.

Bush -- that paragon of virtue and holliness couldn't have done anything wrong because he's the preznit, ya know. He's the compassionate conservative who likes to dress up in flight gear because he's such a worthless POS.

Everybody's gotta march in goose-step for the fuhrer-in-chief and get the son's and daughters to turn in their parents for the good of the state.

Unbelievable!!!

edited for spelling

9. Because she was there and knows all
How the hell would she know? You swear she was there with her father when he decided to get Bush into the National Guard. Since when is her opinion an expert opinion. But then again, it is Fox.

10. Republicans have turned into
a cult rather than a political party.

Just like the Nazi's in Germany in the early 1930's.

I wonder who our Ernst Roehm is?
