How will upcoming Guard convention treat Bush/Kerry??
I've watched two military conventions now and saw the "bring them out of their seats" response to Bush and polite applause for Kerry. This is going to be damn interesting this week. In fact it could be explosive. Are they going to 'politely applaude' Bush because they are becoming aware that he didn't have to meet his obligations like they had to; or are they going to scream support because 'one of their own was attacked'. Will they cheer Kerry who went to 'Nam (hmmmmm, how many Nam vets there who know they pulled everything they could to do a "Bush" in Nam era)or will some of them make a 'scene' like those assholes who stood and turned their back on him at the other convention?? You can bet that if there is so much as a fart let loose in that room the media will cover it. Will any good 'soldiers' be contacted by Rove to make a fuss?? Media would love to show that this "thing is backfiring on Kerry, blah, blah". I'm not looking forward to this one. I wish they would realize that Bush is making a mockery out of them and all people who served in the military.

1. Last week on the Web...
...a retired member of the National Guard made a comment along the lines that it "is not appropriate for me to comment on Bush's service."

Sort of a "band of brothers" thing.

The ONLY thing Bush has in his favor? He didn't speak out against the military. That's putting it in extreme black-and-white terms, but if you weigh all of the comments made since the election took off, it's a big one.

Kerry served two active tours in Vietnam and was awarded, and he spoke out about war atrocities.

Bush's daddy got him out of the line of fire, and he didn't show up for much of the time, and he kept his mouth shut...probably so that no one would focus on his attendance record.

Kerry spoke out against what was going on in Vietnam. Bush didn't.

It seems that SOME...not ALL...in the military look past the fact "that Bush is making a mockery out of them and all people who served in the military" and focus on two things: one, he kept his mouth shut on Vietnam, and two...even though he has never shown up for a single military funeral...he likes to make nice speeches about how the losses in our military "affect us all," and how we "honor their contribution." Canned, scripted, insincere rhetoric from a man who doesn't care how many sons and daughters he sends into the wood chipper known as "Iraq."

Sorry, this one defies all logic.
