Let's stop on the "Bush in the Air Force is a lie" meme
The active Air Force trains National Guard pilots in its pilot training schools.

The active Air Force runs the National Guard's basic training program.

When you are active-duty for training, you are in the Air Force.

Okay, he wasn't in the Air Force very long and he was only ever in Air Training Command units, but he was in the Air Force.

1. I've already said that, but there is something else in those fliers
that's more important anyway.

Why do they say he joined the military after graduating from Harvard? Why intentionally lie about that? Could he have been trying to evade questions about why he left the military under unusual circumstances?

2. not so..
When I served in the Air Force, you were classified as regular or guard. You went through basic training and job training with the regulars but you were still classified as Guard.

3. Not according to the Air Force itself
Even when active Duty for training, YOU ARE STILL IN THE AIR GUARD ACCORDING TO THE AIR FORCE ITSELF!

11. On the money, Walt
Exactly correcto. A member of the Guard is still a member of the National Guard even while serving in an Active status. :bounce:

4. Sorry to say..
The Air Force disagrees with you

The Air Force says that Air National Guard members are considered 'guardsmen on active duty' while receiving pilot training. They are not, however, counted as members of the overall active-duty Air Force.

Anyone in the Air National Guard is always considered a guardsmen and not a member of the active-duty Air Force, according to an Air Force spokeswoman in the Pentagon. A National Guard member may be called to active duty for pilot training or another temporary assignment and receive active-duty pay at the time, but they remain Guard members.

5. You might want to tell the Air Force and David Corn of The Nation, then
Because those unpatriotic bastards in the Air Force are the ones spreading the lie that service in the Texas Air National Guard doesn't equal being in the Air Force:

http://www.thenation.com/capitalgames/index.mhtml?pid=1704

But when AP asked Bush if he had been justified in claiming service in the Air Force, Bush, then the governor of Texas and a presidential candidate, said, "I think so, yes. I was in the Air Force for over 600 days." Karen Hughes, his spokeswoman, maintained that when Bush attended flight school for the Air National Guard from 1968 to 1969 he was considered to be on active duty for the Air Force and that several times afterward he had been placed on alert, which also qualified as active duty for the Air Force. All told, she said, Bush had logged 607 days of training and alerts. "As an officer ," she told the AP, "he was serving on active duty in the Air Force."

But this explanation was wrong. Says who? The Air Force. As the Associated Press reported,

The AP report said, "It may be a question of semantics." But today I checked with two spokespersons for the US Air Force, and each confirmed that an active-duty member of the Air National Guard is not considered a member of the US Air Force. "If a member of the Air National Guard is in pilot training," says Captain Cristin Lesperance of the US Air Force media relations office, "they would remain on the Guard books. They would be counted as Guard, not as an active-duty Air Force member."

8. BULLSHIT
the TANG stuff is not killing Kerry. The media likes to say that so they don't have to deal with the issue.(nothing to see here move along) They said after the Rethug convention that he had to fight back......now he does..... and it's time to forget the TANG. Bullshit, we deserve to know the truth about this once and for all, stop enabling the media by telling us to stop.

The swifties had a 35 year old public record against them and they were still given the benefit of the doubt. Now the record is with us on this one and the media says to forget a war 35years ago. BULLSHIT

9. Why? It helps to distract voters from the last four miserable years!!
And might help Bush get re-selected!!

Who wants to know about the last four ghastly years? Not republicans, that's for sure. There is nothing they can run on except fear. How do we counter that? Why, by saying he had a lie in a campaign ad 35 years ago! That's the ticket!!

Let's talk about some dog-eared campaign paper that's 35 years old. Great idea.

10. Gee, I was talking about . . .
Bush's autobiography from five years ago. But that's not relevant, either, as a measure of a man's character, ability to tell the truth, or desire to bathe in the glory of someone else's accomplishments. Nevermind, then.

14. Could someone answer this question....
I've asked it before and I'll ask it again. Name one person that's seen him fly.

I know a number of pilots...some from Nam. They are all avid fliers to this day.

Perhaps Bush was too drunk to pilot. Perhaps he co-piloted most of the time.
