7. Another "compassionate conservative"
I seriously hope she files a lawsuit and ends up owning that company- and then fires that man, who then loses his house, his car, his wife leaves him and takes the kids, he's out of work for years looking for another job, etc.

I am NOT a "Compassionate Liberal" :) Karma- what goes around comes around.

9. Democracy is so over rated
It's much better to just do what your boss or your Emperor tells you. (that's George W. Bunnypants)

I hope she finds a way to fight back.

11. I wonder how many places this is happening
I'll bet that it is part of Rove's campaign. He's probably sent out campaign literature to every small business owner in the country, asking them to put campaign literature in paycheck envelopes.

I'll bet that a lot of people are just silently taking this without speaking up for fear of losing their jobs. It's sickening.

I hope that they all go to the polls and vote for Kerry.

13. Her states Civil Rights Commission
would be a great place for her to start. I'd be willing to bet they'd jump all over this. That is clearly a gross violation of her rights:grr:

17. Actually that is not true
"That is clearly a gross violation of her rights"

Actually that is not true. I saw a Business show on TV recently asking an employment lawyer the question of how businesses should handle the desires of employees to express political preferences, particularly at work.

He said that freedom of speech does NOT exist in the employer's workplace. They can tell you what to say and what not to say and what to wear, etc.

The one exception to this is when union organizing is taking place. Then the employee can wear union t-shirts or put union bumper stickers on their car. This is protected activity under the National Labor Relations Act, Section 7.

Nevertheless, this should be made an example of how ruthless the repubs can be.

It's the truth, folks. No free speech at work.

14. We need Phil Gaddis' home address and phone...
We all need to send him a token of our displeasure. Perhaps a deception dollar?

I've not been able to find it. Yet.

Anybody else out there have any luck with this?

15. Some Info
I called the 800# and left a message saying it was a good thing Phil was a bankruptcy lawyer, because they'd probably be going bankrupt once the boycott started. Snicker. Felt good.

I think the newspaper spelled his name incorrectly. A Philip Geddes is listed on various corporate filings for FLG, which is related to EnviroMate, and a Philip Geddes is an attorney in Decatur.

Mr. Philip Alexander Geddes, E-mail pgeddes@hiwaay.net,
Address: 619 Bank St NE, Decatur, AL 35601-1607
Phone (256) 350-0229
Fax (256) 350-1812
Date Admitted to the Bar March 24, 1971

He and his wife own a couple of different properties:

Philip Geddes

valued at aroung $260,000

651 JACKSON STREET S.E. valued at $347,600. I couldn't get a number for that addy.

16. Alas, she probably has no recourse
Virtually all states are employment at will states. You get to work until your boss decides, for whatever reason enter his or her pointy little head, that you don't work there anymore.

Unless you are in a protected class and are discriminated against in a particular way, your SOL.
