8. I've named it Operation Kill Shot
Clearly, the Bush camp has directed the mainstream media to detonate a mushroom cloud of doom and gloom over Kerry supporters. "Bush is WAY ahead in ALL the polls! There's no point in discussng AWOL? The election is already over! No point in bothering with debates! Stop wasting your time supporting Kerry! Resistance is futile!"

But why, when there's nearly two months less? Does the Bush camp know there's something coming down the road that requires this kind of pre-emption?

12. IBD never showed an 11 point lead
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 05:19 PM by Snivi Yllom
you cant just compare, for example, a zogby poll showing a 4 point lead from one date and a Gallup poll showing a 12 point lead and say there has been an 8 point shift. You need to stick with one poll to really show a trend or compare the multiple data sets uniformly. That's all

and the latest IBD registered voter poll on pollingreport does show Bush down 2.In fact the short term trend shows Bush gaining, not losing. Long term it shows the race to be pretty static.

15. Newsweek and probably TIME polls have been shown to be flawed.
They disproportionately sampled Repugs. Other polls have been consistently showing * to have gotten about a 4 point lead which is now GONE. Zogby has * ahead by 2, and FOX has Kerry ahead by 1, I believe. Bounce GONE.

17. Bush has gained since Kerry was ahead by 6 after the DNC
but he gained nothing since their most recent poll done in late August, which showed a tie among RVs. Actually, Kerry has edged up 2 in that category.

7. Very few polls had Bush ahead since June
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 05:05 PM by lancdem
The previous IBD poll, done about a week before the RNC, had the two tied, similar to other polls, so he's no better off than he was then, which means any bounce is gone.

This is not a Kerry-leaning poll. It seems pretty middle of the road. The 6-point lead it showed for Kerry after the DNC was in line with other polls.

18. huh?
i thought we were on the same page? the 'bounce' never existed because of faulted polls, and this new accurate one is proof of it.

22. I think this is correct. You can't say bounce is gone by using a poll
that never showed a bounce in the first place.

You have to use the polls that had the bounce. The CBS/Time poll hasn't been done again yet since the big bounce. Should be another one coming.

Other polls show Bush with a lead, but a minor one, indicating that the bounce is lessening, but not gone yet.

THIS IS A VERY GOOD SIGN OF THINGS TO COME! I've said ever since the RNC that the polls are wacko, and I wouldn't make any judgments based on the polls until the end of this week, after a respectable time to allow the Repub "bounce" settle down.

23. A poll in late August by IBD showed a tie among reg. voters.
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 05:37 PM by DemMother
You must have missed it. It was taken before the RNC convention. Most of the polls taken earlier in August show Kerry with a lead, comparable to the IBD poll. I guess I must have missed your point too. God forbid there be any good news about Kerry.

9. Also note that when John Kerry's ahead in the polls by 5 or so, the media
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 05:18 PM by Lex
.
will say Kerry's lead is "slight" or that he is "barely" ahead.

If Bush edges ahead by a few, the media pronounces Kerry's campaign as "dead" and start to wonder how he lost the election.

Exasperating.

10. And how many people will even know about polls such as this?
We know CNN won't mention it, along with Zogby, and even FAUX if it favors Kerry.
