General McCaffrey is on Hardball Right Now -------says that
Bush is holding back troops trying to minimize the number of fatalities before the election. As a result 50 days out from the election, we are conceding land to the enemy which he says is a mistake. We will have to take it back. Dangerous move.

In other words playing politics with the war and our troops.

5. I agree with him.
Haven't you noticed all the news about no go zones? Why do you think they aren't going there? ALso have you noticed the news about how we are going to take it back? When is that going to happen? I bet after Nov. 2.

12. Even on PLANETSIDE, a Cyber military war game, one of the
first things you learn, is to join forces in a cohesive way to earn Battle Points...which promotes advancement in Ranking...leading to more power and influence.

If Bush were to play this game..he would take a long time to reach BR 20 and higher.

16. He's playing Risk
And waiting for his turn to cash in his cards to get the bonus armies. In Risk, you don't have to worry about no stinkin' supply lines, or troop fatigue, or rotations, or all that girlie-man stuff. If you need more armies, you just dip into the box!

7. You know
that has been my gut feeling for a long time.

Here's the heartbreak -

You have honest soldiers who are trained to kill, subdo the enemy by whatever means -

They get caught up in the political cowpie and what you have is a government that knows their war is immoral and pursues it anyway but doesn't back the soldiers they've commanded and sent into harm's way.

VietRaq, anyone?

9. We don't need McCaffrey to tell us this.
It's very obvious, just from the straight news. Did he talk about the Najaf debacle in which Al Sadr was allowed to walk away after his militia killed US soldiers?

17. Bush has ..........................
already snuffed over 1,00 American lives because of a personal vendetta. What's a few hundred more to get him elected? He has no conscience, he's a proven liar and if there is a God in heaven he'll get his just reward very soon.

25. Didn't ya just love McCaffery at the end saying, with his chin jutted out
"but we can win this thing"...

I mean, isn't this the same Barry McCaffery that was in charge of the "drug war" a few years back.

Why can't these telegenerals remember that these shows are taped and that people will come back in a few years and laugh their ASSES off at what they say.

Is the paycheck That Good?

What a dimwitted old fool.

28. I am sure he is getting paid much better than he was even as a general,
but in relation to what you said, I think their egos get the best of them. Probably covering his ass as well just in case Shrub pulls this election out of his ass.

I have trouble trusting McCaffery.

Alledgedly responsible for the Highway of Death at the end (or after, depending on point-of-view) the Gulf War. A war crime.

He was analyzing the situation. Sometimes I think the people here can't tell the difference when the speaker wears a uniform.
