Olberman is an idiot (tonight). Documents have not been "refuted."

"Nor has anyone explained why the documents came to be so quickly and thoroughly refuted."

They weren't. Olbermann bought the forgery idiocy. His take was that the "forged" documents might be planted. They're not forged.

But good job on outing the Freeptard who said they were.

1. Dan Rather/CBS is going to have to keep pounding this story
as long as the other networks keep promoting stories about the documents being fake and planted by the Dems or Repubs, CBS will have no choice but to keep backing up their case for authenticity and hopefully digging deeper to find more damaging info.

2. huh? I didn't get that at all
I heard him say the documents had not been refuted by the White House. Or that the contents were not refuted, only the claim of forgery was made.

16. My email to Olbermann

Keith - The CBS Docs HAVE NOT been refuted - see IBM tech quote here:

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1101040920-695873-2,00.html

<snip>

But Bill Glennon, a technology consultant in New York City who worked for IBM repairing typewriters from 1973 to 1985, says those experts "are full of crap. They just don't know." Glennon says there were IBM machines capable of producing the spacing, and a customized key — the likes of which he says were not unusual — could have created the superscript th.

<snip>

Freerepublic and Buckhead are blowing a LOT OF SMOKE. . .they are full of crap as Glennon says. Get a copy of tonite's (9-13-04) CBS Evening News and see Rather's latest report.

Best Regards,

Emulatorloo

Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 07:27 PM by papau
express my disgust with his bullshit assumption that the Docs are fake - someone should send him the PCMAG article that states that the idiot far right "reasons it must be fake" prove NOTHING!

In any case, we can now say NBC and ABC are as GOP owned as Fox.

12. I think we're missing something here. KO questioned how quickly
the information from FR came out to discredit the documents. (HE DID NOT REFUTE THEM). When he researched the source of the info from FR, he found that the guy was a Lawyer from Atlanta who does a lot of work for the Republican party. So KO's question was: Would someone in the Republican Party delibertly set up a news outlet with fake documents knowing that they would be immediately contested?

6. That's not what I heard. He was speaking hypothetically about
a Republican releasing fake documents knowing that they could be disproven. Could it be a ruse to divert attention away from the issues?

14. Excuse the cut n paste...
But here is a dupe of what I posted in a similar thread. Olberman made very pointed comments about the docs that were questioning od their authenticity.

>>
Olberman seems to have not investigated the Selectric series of typewriters, and is unaware that many of them could indeed create that doc. He also is unclear on the age of the font. Since he is unclear on the proportionate spacing and superscript capabilities and the ae of the font, he has taken the claims (lies) of the opposite to heart. So, he is pursuing the "who" and "why" of the docs as forgeries. He seems to think thatb they might be forged by Rupukes to incriminate the Dems as the "forgers". Get it? Sort of a doublecross.

Of course, we could all hip Keith to the history of the Selectrics and the fact that the font was invented in 19fuckin'31. To the email, Batman!

This is clearly the talking point all over the media. The t.v. people are the worst ones pushing the story, as usual.

He didn't actually say "Karl Rove" but that's who I thought he was referring to.

17. And the transcript for tonight's show will be up on the MSNBC
website tomorrow. I watched the show tonight (admittedly, with distractions, so I can't swear to every single word he said) but I got the idea that he believed they were fake but that they were actually put out by the Repugs to catch CBS and Dan Rather and pretty much keep any further investigation into *'s Nat'l Guard records from going on. And he did bring up the whole thing about the Buckhead Freeper, etc. in pretty good detail, even showing that further investigation of the website and Buckhead's prior postings show he's a lawyer and * flunkie.

18. KO's been doing a fantastic job
He'll stay on this story.

And I think the major issue is not the forgery but the plant, which he discussed.

THAT is the real story.
