I think I got inauguration tickets!!!
Edited on Wed Jan-07-09 02:39 PM by Bleachers7
I just got a call from my wife. She said that something arrived from the presidential inauguration committee requesting my presence. Is this a ticket? Are these tickets +1? Does anyone with tickets know?

She read it to me, but I want to see. I'm at work, so I'm waiting for pictures.

5. I think you have to pick them up in DC
I believe I heard that because of all the attempts to sell them before anyone ever had them that you would only be able to pick them up in DC. What you may have gotten was a letter telling you where and when to pick them up? Each ticket is for the ticketholder and one guest.

7. I GOT MY INVITE!
Just like the original poster, I got an invite to the inauguration from the Presidential Inaugural Committee. It is a Cardstock 8.5X11 sheet of paper with the return address of the Presidential Inaugural Committee. Good stuff!!!

18. Turns out to be BS.
It's basically a fundraiser from Obama.

11. Got my invite too
If you want to know how it should look, check this link out:

http://www.silive.com/news/advance/index.ssf?/base/news/1230902117247620.xml&coll=1

<... Since Harry S. Truman's Jan. 20, 1949 inaugural, the printed invitations have had the same look. However, this year, the invitations were printed on cream colored recycled paper, with the traditional inaugural seal at the top in gold.[br />
In black script, the invitation reads: "The Presidential Inaugural Committee requests the honor of your presence to attend and participate in the Inauguration of Barack H. Obama as President of the United States of America and Joseph R. Biden Jr. as Vice President of the United States of America on Tuesday, the twentieth of January two thousand and nine in the city of Washington." ]

12. I got something in the mail today, too, from ObamaBiden
that is a formal invitation requesting my presence at their Inaugeration but logistics would have me not there.

I think it's a sweet way to acknowledge their donors.

13. I got the same thing. They don't have my name on it, so I guess it's really
just an acknowledgement of their donors like you said. Did you get a second letter with it saying it's a "commemorative invitation" to "any of the public events..."?

16. It is NOT an official ticket!
It is just a campaign souvenier. I got one in the mail today too. Notice it says you are invited to all the "free" events. You don't have to have anything to get into those anyway so this is just a token.

I think the Obama campaign sent these to all the contributors. I got one and I didn't even apply for inauguration tickets so I know it's not real.

Frame it and hang it on your living room because that is about all it is worth.
