Anybody have any info on Edwards and the junk science claim?
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 09:59 PM by noahmijo
That's one area I know nothing about nor can I find anything other than freeper sites who even touch the subject. The cerebal palsy cases that Edwards won.

Thanks DU bloodhounds!

Okay this is amazing I'm sorry that nobody's heard this, this is the key talking point from all the RW talking heads when Edwards gets brought up.

Here is an article

Did 'Junk Science' Make John Edwards Rich?
By Marc Morano
CNSNews.com Senior Staff Writer
January 20, 2004

(CNSNews.com) - The superstar trial lawyer accomplishments of John Edwards, which allowed this former millworker to amass a personal fortune, finance his successful U.S. Senate run in 1998 and catapult himself into the 2004 race for president, may have been partially built on "junk science," according to legal and medical experts who spoke with CNSNews.com .

What were the cases. What did Edwards argue? What are the complaints against his argument?

3. I got into a discussion about this on another board
Look at the National Academy of Trial Lawyers website and specifically look for "birth injuries."

maybe The March of Dimes has some statistics. I dismissed it (the repugs claim) as hogwash myself. The repugs claim that cerebral palsy is not caused by birth trauma or lack of oxygen during birth, and to claim it does is "junk science". That just flies in the face of logic. If you have seen sonograms of healthy active babies in the womb before birth, and then are unable to move at all after birth, I would have to say something happened during birth to do that.

9. the rethugs also don't believe in global warming...
"believe" in it, like it's a religious persuasion.

I think that tells you all you need to know.

8. CNS? Why are you posting this bullshit?
I mean, that sounds harsh, and I don't mean it to, but why not just post clips from Newsmax and Washington Times while you're at it?

I'm sure that they had lots and lots of experts from AEI, the Cato Institute, the John Birch Society, the Federalist Society and the Greening Earth Society standing ready to "debunk" Edwards' career.
