On the last night of Bush's presidency and anticipating the first night of Obama's
Tonight is unbelievable in so many ways. I hoped to never see the last night of Bush's presidency let alone the first. I knew Bush was an empty suit with a history of failure from the beginning. Then the South Carolina campaign against McCain sealed it for me. I knew clearly at that point that Bush was a first rate scumbag. Then the 2000 election never ended. 2000 was stolen and Bush ran a permanent campaign until his "re"-election. So tonight we are on his last night of the most unbelievable 8 years in America. We were attacked on our soil. We have a city wiped out. We invade another country. We spy on our own citizens. We open secret prisons and we torture others. Yes, us, the USA! Americans! We have all of these things happen over the last 8 years. FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE! How did it happen in the USA? These are all things that I never thought a president would have the guts to do, let alone get away with.

So now were here. Barack Obama is elected president. Holy shit. We got a black guy named Barack Hussein Obama elected!!! How the hell did that happen? I know he was the best choice and I know he will make a great president, but somehow we got this guy elected in the very same America that I thought wouldn't allow a president to do what Bush did. I know the last 8 years were hard. And the next some years shouldn't be much easier, but we elected a truly outstanding individual. He's no typical politician and that's what America needs. Many people think we need a third (and fourth) party. In many ways Obama represents this. He's a little more nuanced while at the same time being more passionately ideological. In a world where Sarah Palin gets picked to be VP, Obama picks the smartest person in the room...Biden.

Tomorrow is the beginning of what will hopefully be a long presidency for Obama and the Democrats. It's a day that I never thought would come and I never saw coming.
