The DNC guy is very good.
His name is Wolfson, I think, and he is very aggressive, quick on his feet and has a knack for short, pointed comments that usually score well, especially when he counterattacks.

Example:

Douchebag asks him to admit the AWOL memos are phony.

Wolfson: "no, they are not phony. But Bush's reasons for invading Iraq are."

Big applause.

A Bush loss would be seismic for the right wing, it would faction and morph ( for the better ) away from the 'Bush Doctrine bullies' into the true fiscal conservatives, and the morons without a party whom are left over.

came up with the transcript. The issue was never the context but that Begala said that Bush is a decent man. The transcript never stated that Begala said Bush and Cheney lied. He came close though!

I am tired of Begala always saying Bush is a decent man right before he bashes him....it makes no sense.....how can someone be decent and then you go on to say that he is doing all these very evil things?

51. "Brutus is an honorable man."
Edited on Tue Sep-14-04 07:22 PM by BillyBunter
Have you read Shakespeare's Julius Caesar? What do you think the Mark Antony character meant to accomplish by repeating "Brutus is an honorable man?" Do you think he wanted the citizens of Rome to walk away feeling that Brutus really was an honorable man? Is that what happened?

People here really need to start thinking beyond the level of a schoolkid. Begala knows exactly what he's doing by saying Bush is a "nice guy" before trashing him, just as Antony knew he had to acknowledge the public's preception of Brutus before he could tear it down.

34. Begala still doesn't get the war vote; Walker defines docs as forgeries
When Novak says "John Kerry voted for the war", he should be interrupted right there. Kerry never voted for the war; he voted for sincere inspections with the threat of war as a backup. The Bush Administration never exhausted the regimen of inspections, and actually impeded them, then forcing the war on an excuse. Bush lied.

Walker now defines the TANG documents as forgeries. Why does nobody say that the schmuck "expert" who claims that he's 100% sure they're forgeries has no more proof than anyone else without the originals? If they could have been made on a period typewriter, then it's still an open question.

I hope that CBS is letting them get overconfident before springing the originals, and I seriously hope that the issue of Shrub scrubbing the documents while Governor gets serious airplay.

Warning to Sumner Redstone, Viacom, CBS and Dan Rather: if George Bush pulls off this election, you will be destroyed. This isn't playtime, and there's no turning back.

He was drooling and spitting and double clutching his words while shaking his jowels. It was fantastic.
The answers given by HOWARD WOLFSON, DNC SR. COMMUNICATIONS ADVISER were fantastic. One line firing back at every attack. Kerry needs to get some of this guy!
The congressman was BOB WALKER (R), FORMER U.S. CONGRESSMAN from PA.
He just couldn't hack it.
At one point he repeated "those document were forged" three times trying to get it in above the crosstalk.

57. Wolfson is a keeper
I usually make it through the first three minutes of CrossFire as long as the mute is enabled. Wolfson was a nice surprise.

For the first time in months, the Dem was skilled enough to interrupt the framing, all the disjointed lies that get put out before the question. Wolfson stopped the blather and called them on it. Often this is where the worse damage is done, and it never gets refuted. Secondly, Wolfson knew his stuff; short, to the point, and catchy phrases. Finally, he has mastered the art of "stare down" and stopped that Elmer Fudd's talk over bs. Fudd always begins the interruptions as soon as the Dem gets close to the truth. Just as Novak and Carlson call for a commercial when the going gets tough. Novak did it today.

If perception is everything, then Wolfson comes across as honest, smart but not smarmy, and cool. A keeper.

OTOH, in my book, Begala has "less than useless" written beside his name; in ink.
