ABC News report strongly critical of CBS story on bush TANG
The report would cause the viewer to draw the conclusion that the docs were fake and that CBS didn't try really hard to find that out. Talked to 2 women who said they had looked at the docs for CBS and expressed concern about their authenticity; one said CBS didn't seem all that interested in what she said. THen they showed another guy who was claiming that typewriter in that time period could not have created the doc.

I concluded that ABC was specifically looking to debunk the rival network's story and didn't exactly make an effort for info to support the story.

6. Last time I checked, we DUers didn't have much control over
CBS, NBC, CNN, etc. They are going to pursue the stories as they wish, and DUers will comment on them.

2. The other 'news' networks want to 'make' their own story by..
casting doubt on CBS. CBS got a scoop in them and they want to discredit it so they look like they are better.

9. No..............
they're simply being pressured by the Bush White House to attack and discredit CBS. These networks are owned by large corporations that want nothing more than to have Bush elected and continue their "Business as usual" agreement. There is no free press in this country anymore, they tell us what they want us to hear and hide the truth.

I'm beginning to dislike this country, things are sucking more and more every day.

5. I saw the end of the segment and they did say that one of the women
said that while the documents were fake, the sentiments they expressed were what they heard around the office or from Killian during that time.

We have got to stop talking about the documents and focus on what * did.

Someone needs to just ask her what was going on. Fu@# the documents! That is the losing part of this argument. Focus on the non-controversial documents and testimony.

8. I concur.
there is enough evidence out there right now to support the idea that the documents might be genuine.

Regardless of whether they are real or reproductions, the story is accurate.

10. What ABC is doing
is a time-honored journalistic tradition. It's called pissing on your competitor's scoop.

If you get beat badly on a story, you either have to come back with something new on the same story or show how the original story was bogus or insignificant.

11. I also hate all the focus on the docs, but this report pissed me off
And, IIRC, a reporter made a comment that the Kerry folks keep harping on the TANG issue, what happened years ago, rather than on the present! Unbelievable! This probably wouldn't have even come up if the repugs didn't bankroll the swiftboatliars to focus on the past. Kerry's been trying to talk about the issues since he started campaigning; he does it on the road, but it's rarely seen on television, where the majority of people would see it.

Seems that it wasn't all that long ago when I heard that the WH hated ABC News because they thought it was being hard on bush. Well today, they weren't that distinct from Faux News.
