Former secretary says she didn't type memos (but)
Does this cook someone's goose?

06:24 PM CDT on Tuesday, September 14, 2004
By PETE SLOVER / The Dallas Morning News

<snip>
Mrs. Knox said she did all of Lt. Col. Killian’s typing, including memos for a personal “cover his back” file he kept in a locked drawer of his desk.

She said she did not recall typing the memos reported by CBS News, though she said they accurately reflect the viewpoints of Lt. Col. Killian and documents that would have been in the personal file. Also, she could not say whether the CBS documents corresponded memo for memo with that file.
“The information in here was correct, but it was picked up from the real ones,” she said.

2. ummm.... what's a "real one"?
I assume she means a handwritten scribble, but if she saw one why didn't SHE type it?
I mean, Killian wouldn't hand her something unless she was to type it.

4. Maybe he converted some of them later?
Possibly he had records he didn't even ask her to type up. Unless there was some need to have copies of it at the time, he might have placed hand-written notes into his file.

3. The headline reveals the biased spin on this . . .
The headline SHOULD be, "The information in the memo is correct." THAT's the real story.

5. Did anyone ask her what kind of typewriter
She used?

I would think that would be a narural follow up.

6. It is possible that....
These were actually typed to replace the damaged microfiche that was reported upon several months ago? Do we know which microfiche were replaced? It was reported that it was from this time period specifically. So, this is a very strong witness. Of course, she would not remember such innocuous and ambiguous documents as these. They only seem important in hindsight.

8. It is NOT up to CBS to prove anything! It's up to accusers to prove
they're forgeries.

This is always how they spin and detract: they make an accusation against Democrats, claim guilt until proven innocent, and make a "scandal" where none exists.

Either way, it distracts focus from all the other proof -- PROOF -- that Bush didn't take his flight physical, was grounded, and didn't fulfill his duties.

9. Rethug SOP
Accuse, then smear the accused and put the onus on the accused to prove otherwise. They are evil and clever.

11. Nice try -- and amusing at that
This is about CBS identifying sources?! Nonsense. But if you want to talk about identifying sources, Bob Novak's phone is ringing. That one is a matter of compromised national security.

This is about organizations proving "things they report" to be true? CBS already did that. I don't hear anybody questioning whether the Bushboy received special treatment, missed his flight physical, was grounded, or has shown that he fulfilled his duties.

This is about the mere possibility that news media might someday report rumors about Kerry as fact? Um, heard of the Swiftboat Veterans for Bush?

Funny.

Notice CBS is not being sued. Proof enough for this journalist and publisher.

13. Ever heard of Vince Foster?
Seriously, you can't possibly be serious with what you are saying after 8 years of the Clinton Witchhunt......can you??????

Whitewater?

Paula Jones?

Genifer Flowers?

The Arkansas Project?

Ever heard of any of these unfounded allegations against Clinton?

14. Strange that someone with your beliefs would take this position.
After all nothing about Whitewater was ever found to be true--although widely reported.

Or how about those WMDs in Iraq?????

18. Actually-

Before you disappear forever- How would you go about producing the info that everybody knows or suspects, but the records had been sanitized? If you parade a bunch of people who say the same thing, discrediting them is easy. Especially when you are facing the most powerful criminal force in the world, the richest family in the world, backed up by the entire might of the CIA, FBI, the entire US govt?

Strikes me they went about it very cleverly. You take the message-which is true but the spooks have burned the evidence- and put it in front of the nation. And then it sits there for a week, and nobody challenges it because they are all concentrating on proving the document, not the content, is a hoax. Then the little old secretary, who knows the truth, but by herself no one would believe her, pipes up and says yes, the docs are a fake but the story is true. Everything goes quiet as jaws drop. It is so obviously true and now it's part of the lexicon. Beautiful, fucking beautiful. Nobody gets bumped off or has their family business destroyed. Dickhead is smeared with the truth and nobody is killed. WOW! (snif, snif)

(sniff) on edit: did anyone in here spray some of that irridescent freeper marker spray in here by mistake?

17. But what about the facts ???
The facts have not been discredited or even denied by Bush...They only say the documents are not "real". If the facts are correct, you have to assume more weight to the authenticity of the documents. If the facts are wrong, then let Bush say so. Why doesn't he say so?

16. this is feeling more and more like rove. just is
i am seeing that rove had these done up, and copied so no original. they had the man butt whatever set up within two hours of the report to yell forgery, they had it mapped how to get it out immediately to net and media. too fast. and today was the first comment i have heard rnc say like the dems putting out those forged documents. i told husband tonight i have been quiet on this, cause i am so confused. he is repug and not into conspiracy. kinda shook head and said, how could he do something like that, why.

sittin quiet

well kinda like buggin his office to accuse the opponent. who would think

i told him a dem wouldnt do this. bet you anything. jsut not what the dems do. they wouldnt even think of doing this. he agreed. absolutely agreed. and sat with the rove thing and he could see it too.

so we are interested to watch where this goes.
