All Hell is Breaking Loose in Iraq
Bush* is toast. Iraq will be his downfall. You cannot invade a soveriegn nation and expect to get away with it. There were none, repeat none of the Weapons of Mass Destruction that the world was told were awaiting us. The World Knows. Karma.

1. And Bush is saying that all hell isn't breaking loose.
See to him, that's leadership. That's what a real man does when things are going bad.

At least understand your enemy.

9. Whether they are evil or not is irrelevent. Bush's policy in Iraq is a dis
aster that has been caused ridiculously optimistic assumptions.

Personally, I think those who kill innocent civillians are evil, and that certainly includes many of these insurgents, but the fact remains that Iraq is a hulking stinking mess created by Bush.

21. So you think all those who kill innocent civilians are evil?
Edited on Tue Sep-14-04 08:56 PM by Paul_H
Even our own troops?

"I am a journalist. I'm dying, I'm dying," screamed Mazen al-Tumeizi, a correspondent for the Arabic television channel al-Arabiya, after shrapnel from a rocket fired by an American helicopter interrupted his live broadcast and slammed into his back.

Twelve others were killed and 61 wounded by rockets from two US helicopters on Haifa Street in central Baghdad. They had fired into a crowd milling around a burning Bradley fighting vehicle that had been hit by a rocket or bomb hours before.

Why did the U.S. helicopter fire on the Bradley?

"The helicopter fired on the Bradley to destroy it after it had been hit earlier and it was on fire," said Major Phil Smith of the 1st Cavalry Division. "It was for the safety of the people around it."

12. When a government is toppled, and there's nothing to take its place,
no plan for stabilizing the country, no establishment below the surface ready to rise and supplant the old government, no commonality among the people for supporting a new system or organization or leader, then this is what you get.

And the Bush regime was too STUPID to understand that despite months and months of people saying it.

20. "The killing of innocents"
There are people in Iraq who believe they need to defend their leaders to protect their families, defend their families to protect their children, and defend their God to protect everything that gives human life any reason for existing.

We KNEW there were factions in Iraq that would not have democracy shoved down their throats by the US, we KNEW they would not accept each other, accept territorial boundaries or accept a common government without a fight, we KNEW that all of this aftermath was going to be the hard part and the military overthrow of Saddam Hussein was going to be the easy part.

We don't know exactly what it is in human nature that will cause people to kill innocents, but we KNEW that without a plan for supplanting a toppled government in a country that was essentially three countries in one, yes, people KNEW it would happen. And make no mistake: we, the United States, the liberators, killed innocents as well. We can call it "accidents" or "collateral damage" or whatever euphemistic excuses we can conjure, but the real reason is in the first paragraph of this post. BushCo sold it to the American people as a matter of life, death, protection, salvation, and godliness -- and it was none of those.

26. How many innocents died during "Shock and Awe?"
Tens of thousands of Iraqis were given their freedom (from life) by our own Chimperor.

The fighters in Iraq are trying to kill those they believe are collaboratoring with an occupying force. Hence, they blow up police stations and other puppet government installations. How could any intelligent person not see this coming?????

24. War is tough. It means sacrifice. Quit complaining. As long
as our Commander-in-Chief is in control, our soldiers will continue to fight for our freedoms, no matter how many innocent lives it takes.

Right?

8. By trying to avoid casualties, Bush is losing the war even faster
Edited on Tue Sep-14-04 08:02 PM by PurityOfEssence
EVERYTHING this administration does is political, just like DiIulio said as he quit. Ex-Senator Simpson from Wyoming said he was shocked to find out that this administration polls more than any group he's ever seen.

By making sure the casualties are held as low as possible before the election, he guarantees that the insurgents gain footholds everywhere except for the Fort Zinderneufs and other encampments where we hunker down. When they attack the convoys more and the oil infrastructure, we'll have to come out.

It's the most loathsome lie to say that there's no political component to the current strategy in Iraq, and it's the most foolish thing we could do.

At least Hitler was a real soldier; when he made ridiculous pronouncements, they had at least some basis in experience.

The professional military must be going nuts; when a senior battlefield General in the Marine Corps chastises the government, you know things are a mess.

Playing games for personal gain with the lives of those who protect us is despicable, and tampering with military operations for political theatre is lower than low. Young, poor lives are the currency with which this is paid. Look at the ages of the dead, too: there are quite a few middle-aged folks in there too.

The man is the epitome of selfishness, and he's sick right down to where his soul should be.

19. I saw this man last night also
more than once, but can't remember his name. Cowley?? He said they (troops) were told to pull out of Fallujah when in 4 days it would have been overtaken; he expressed his disapproval but was overruled by the admin. Now it will take a whole regrouping of Iraqis and our troops to get back to where they were before. And this was partially blamed on politics; less Americans dying, the better.

29. Sey Hersh said he had heard that after the election they are
going to send the Marines into these cities and basically kill everything in sight!! He said it won't be identifying 'strongholds' and calling in the air strikes. They will just go through the towns and kill. And, I'm wondering how long after that they will install a nice little dictator as bad as Sadaam to keep things in two while we build our bases and occupy them. Sey said that things are so bad over there that we will never be able to occupy the bases we are building and will have to walk away from them just like we did in 'Nam.
