2. i especially love the foreign ones
this is an amazing pic but i always think i would be uncomfortable if i was inside a crowd like this. maybe it's not as packed as it seems and i could easily make my way around and out.

22. And by then, we were not aware of the dark secrets behind them..
well, behind JFK.

So at least with this family they are beautiful indoor and outdoor.

21. Thanks for posting that link! My favorite was ...
the officer at Guano'mo replacing the official portrait of the CINC. That may be the one change that is more important than any other.

(And the look that Michelle is giving BHO in that close-up shot is just too hot for public consumption.)

25. I didn't think I had any happy tears left ... but I just found out I do.
This picture of the two 1968 Olympics medalists who put their fists in the air as a silent protest against racial discrimiation ... hugging each other and their wives as Obama was sworn in ... WOW WOW WOW ... that's when the tears started really flowing for me.

40 years after their silent protest at the 1968 Olympics, Gold Medalist Tommie Smith hugs Bronze Medalist John Carlos, and their wives Delois Smith and Charlene Carlos after Barack Obama is officially sworn in as the President of the United States. Photo taken in the Smith room at the Sheraton Boston in Boston, MA. (Boston Globe/Stan Grossfeld)

27. I just can't get enough either--thanks so much for the link!

#10 is so poignant... those people, so proud of Obama, having to watch him on a tiny little TV, but they're just as happy and rapt as anybody watching on a 60-inch plasma. And check out that beautiful American flag in the background--could anything be more touching?

That one, plus #12, #14, #29 and all the others of just plain regular folks all around the world watching the inauguration of the President of the United States made me realize how much our country still affects the rest of this planet. I'd like to think that from now on we can affect it for the better.

And #23 and #38 just about made me bust out crying.

Thank you thank you thank you!

(Gah! Edited to change #28 to #38! #28 just made me happy to see him go, but #38 is absolutely beautiful.)

32. So many really really good ones, but this odd little one caught me by surprise.

U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Bill Mesta replaces an official picture of outgoing President George W. Bush with that of newly-sworn-in U.S. President Barack Obama, in the lobby of the headquarters of the U.S. Naval Base January 20, 2009 in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
