I thought I'd share with you an e-mail I sent to a Republican friend:
Bush is like 1 or 2 points ahead in most polls. That Tme poll is a outlier. Bush is very vulnerable. Few sitting presidents have gone on to reelection with numbers like his.
You can expect to hear more about the Iraqi "no-go" zones in the next few weeks. I mean, if we are winning the war in Iraq so handily, why are we ceding city after city to the insurgents? Sorry, but you just can't surrender yourself into a military victory. And then there is Afghanistan where, outside Kabul and the provincial capitals, the warlords run the place and Osama bin Laden roams free. Sheesh. Bush wants to run on his record as the "war president"? I say bring it on.
And let's not even talk about Bush's virtual lack of a domestic agenda. Do you think the health care system is going to fix itself? Do you really think No Child Left Behind should be the end of the story on education? And what about the deficit? "Tra-la-la-la-la-la Live for Today" is NOT an acceptable fiscal policy.
If Kerry can just shut up about Vietnam, he'll start to expose the president where he is vulnerable: on the real issues.
