Today's Wall Street Journal - "My Economic Policy" by John Kerry
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 08:47 AM by cthrumatrix
A must read for every DU'er. It's on page A20 and quite lengthy.

I will not re-type the whole editorial but here are his points:

Since 2001, the economy has lost 1.6M jobs. The typical family has seen it's income fall more than $1,500, while healthcosts are up more than $3,500.

He then get's into the exposrting of jobs and out trade deficit. He shares that bush has has 43 months and all he has is blame and excuses. He shares how other presidents have faced wars, crisis etc...and still not lost jobs.

Kerry Bullet Points for his Economic Plan:
------------------------------------------
* Create Good Jobs - we need a "level playing field", close tax loopholes for corporation sending jobs overseas

* Cut Middle Class taxes & Health Costs- Kerry tax cuts would be extended for 98% of Americans and new tax cuts for college, child care and more. He is proposing a system that increases coverage and reduces costs. Relief for business healh premiums etc... He'll take on prescription drugs costs.

* Restore America's Competitive Edge - investing in research, stem cellresearch, alternative fules, and business tax credits for expansion.

* Cut the deficit and restore American Confidence - imposing caps on spending, balance budgets, rolling back bush tax cuts for the wealthy.

Obviously, the article is quite LONG. But it is a MUST READ for people who want to hear more about Kerry's plan.

5. Just left a message on my dad's answering machine
telling him to save that section of the WSJ for me to read later. Even mentioned the page number. If he missed or skipped the article, maybe this will nudge him into reading it. ;-)

Thanks for the heads-up!
