If AWOL's plan is stay the course and seems like he is intent or Pre-emptive war games...our military will need replenishing.

Do young people realize this...and are they energized to vote Kerry?

2. I'm sorry to say this
But I think we will have the draft regardless who is elected. It's essential, thanks to Bush.

4. logic says if Kerry includes other countries or UN = less Americans
and hopefully less pre-emptive wars.

7. assuming the countries want to be included
so less Americans is not a realistic assumption.
It's possible, but not realistic.

12. You're right
It does beat the hell out of the Chimp's plan.
But whether Kerry's plan is better is somewhat irrelevant regarding the possibility of a draft.
It's a different issue.

If there is a draft it will be because the military is overextended.
If we stay in Iraq for a few more years, the military will be overextended.

If our allies say thanks, but no thanks, we'll help out economically but we aren't sending our young people as soldiers, the military will be overextended.

I think there's a high likelihood of a draft no matter who gets elected. That's what I meant by saying the House and the Senate are the ones that can decide. I'm not necessarily against a draft. I was a conscientious objector at the end of the Vietnam War. I ambivalently believe that a draft may just be what this country needs in order to get people who think they don't have to be directly concerned about the country's foreign policy to realize that they do have to be.

5. You're right, House & Senate can vote for a draft
It doesn't matter who the president is.
If the House and Senate voted for a draft, does anyone think any president would veto it?

3. Problem is due to the way bush has screwed up education
most of these kids don't read, which was part of the bush plan

As far as the war is concerned, bush is against abortion so he can use the unwanted children to fight his wars

9. there is a "need" with the current plan with shrub....that's the problem
we need to tone down our "protect the world" rhetoric.

Protect the US yes...take out every dictator? No.

We (the US that is) will just use mercenaries instead and outsource the job to the poor folks in Argentina, South Africa, and Australia.

14. Intelligent ones do at this point....
The "Bob Roberts" thug Republicans, like the ones that KICKED peaceful protesters in public, will NEVER get it.

And they'll also find a way to get a deferment, no matter what is said.

16. Not around here, they dont
A family member works as a manager in a restaurant, a steakhouse, and there are young people working there, in their 20s mostly, and he has explained REPEATEDLY about the draft. They just dont get it or dont believe it. Too concerned with money, their cars and cell phones.

Most kids in their 20's are not into politics and dont care about the war. And alot of them said they may vote, may not and a few said they'll vote for * cause he's got balls. :eyes: cause they're into violence and violent video games and war until they get that draft notice. They BELIEVE Iraq is connected to 9/11, it's sad and pathetic how uninformed they are and you cannot educate them, they dont want to hear it.
:kick:
