Kerry/Edwards have a 57-39 point lead in the West!!
I looked at the demographics of the Washington Post/ABC News poll which show that Bush has an overall 50/44 lead and found some interesting results regionally.

In the East, Kerry leads 47-43
In the South, Bush leads 56-37
In the Midwest, Bush is up 53-42
In the West, Kerry leads by 57-39

First, The East (NY, ect) will be better than 47-43, we know that.
Second, we have work to do in the MW. But the most encouraging number is that in the West Kerry has as big a lead as Bush has in the South and I predict we can win states like Arizona, Nevada, and Colorado which we lost last time if we keep up the effort.

I don't have a link, but becuz I subscribed on the WP on line homepage I got sent a political digest which include theses figures.

1. Kerry should get 60% + in New York and Connecticut.
These polls that show * closing in in these states are wrong.

5. Yes, they are mostly "welfare states" that take more fed money...
than they give. Without slave labor they have always been losers. A remnant of that exists in all the factories that move there to exploit non-union labor.

3. I bet that a lot of that stuff in the west includes Californians.
I'd be really surprised if we get Colorado (though I do love surprises!).

But anyway, I think Arizona may be a better target for a pick-up, although since I don't live there don't take my world for it.

4. I would love to feel good about this but....
Electoral college NOT looking good....the swing vote has been turned around (and has to be returned around) on the Iraq War, Security, Terrorism issues....

http://www.electoral-vote.com/

"We had a quarter of a million visitors yesterday. Now that Bush is ahead, maybe the Republicans are showing up in droves to hear the good news :-) (F you buddy)

And the good news is continuing for Bush. A new poll from Survey USA in Nevada breaks the tie and he goes ahead 51% to 47% there. Nationally he picks up five more votes in the electoral college to bring his total to 296, 26 more than needed to win."

Bushco has changed the attention and focus to war/terror/security and the braindead believe we might as well stick with the gun totin slob.
Meanwhile...Bushco has gone out in the bus and pretended that they have health care and economic ideas...co-opting Kerry/Edwards ideas at least to the extent they have made this (hopefully temporarily) a non-issue.
This has to be the worse time of the Kerry campaign right now and it can only get better is what I'm hoping for....

But the way to take the bull by the horns is don't go negative anymore on the war, what happened, or anything to do with Nam etc....but go POSITIVE on vision of "how to bring the troops home". It's wide open and up for grabs for Kerry to take ownership of. Meanwhile he can beat Bush into the ground on TV and in the debates with challenging people to wonder exactly WHY Bush is attempting to democratize Iraq.

I have pleaded for Kerry to change his tactic to "we will ensure security" and "get deeper involvement from the world community"....but we WILL NOT GO DOWN IN FLAMES ATTEMPTING TO CONVERT IRAQ TO A DEMOCRACY. THAT IS NOT OUR RIGHT. PERHAPS OUR PRESIDENT BELIEVES AND THIS AND THIS IS PART OF A MUCH GRANDER AND DANGEROUS VISION THAT HE HAS FOR NOT ONLY IRAQ BUT THE ENTIRE REGION."
