I went to the local Democratic meeting last night.
The lady who gave the speech stressed that our message needs to be 80% positive. I don't think I could do that.

What do you think? This has been debated hotly. Should Dems get themselves into the mud?

My feeling is that Gore lost because he wouldn't stand up for himself. He didn't get the message out to people like me who (at that time) relied on the "mainstream media." I thought he was a pathological liar. It turns out he told the truth and that the media turned him into a "liar."

Which begs the question: how do we fight this crazy right-wing media? We've been sending e-mails. Big whoop. The corporations are still in control. They have the money.

How do you fight capitalism gone rampant?

The only thing I can think of is this: Should * win, we need to shut down the economy by buying only that which we need to subsist: food, gas to go to work, etc.

I just don't know what else to do. The GOP wants to {i]investigate CBS. Isn't that a Constitutional violation? Especially when Faux and CNN get away with bloody murder being propagandists for the Bush* Admin?

I watched The Seven Samari last night, and there was a line in the movie that really struck me - "You cannot win if you are always in a defensive position'. I think the Dem's do need to be positive and they need to go on the offensive, including slinging mud when truthful (with current rethugs that is not hard to do). If rethugs are going to demand a CBS investigation, the Dem's should counter loud and hard for a Plame investigation (among other things, such as
J. Millers WMD claims and the Niger uranium). LOUD AND HARD!

But mostly, I agree we need to take on the media, and i think nothing will work but protests at their doorsteps along with boycotts, and support for Air Am. At my first Dem meeting over a year ago, I asked if there was any plan to take on hate radio, and I swear to you, it was so discounted - the head of the Dem party in this state actually said, no, not to worry, it's just entertainment. They have no plan what so ever to take back the media! I was just floored.

I pay my local Dem dues, but I WILL NOT send money to the state Dem organization until they at least acknowledge that the media is one of their biggest problems. We have to take an offensive position with this, imho.
