I got in trouble at work
As I have mentioned here before I like to talk to my coworkers about John Kerry and try to get them to at least think for voting for him well this morning, I was called on the carpet by my boss seems one of the fundies in another section told my boss I was spending way too much time talking to people and not working. This is a huge lie, since in the chimpy economy I don't do anything to get fired over. I only talk to folks during breaks and lunch and even after work. Luckily my direct supervisor stepped in and told her that what the fundy was saying was total BS. Them nut jobs are so steamed that Bushie is going to lose that they have to resort to trying to get folks fired. The knucklehead ended up getting written up for "gossiping".

DONT talk about politics at work .... It rarely has a positive effect ....

IF you insist on 'converting' a co-worker: take them offsite to get a beer or Root Beer or sumfin ....

6. well the people I work with mostly are
the "I don't vote so it doesnt matter" crowd and like I said I never take up time from work. I also don't beat them over the head with Kerry I just tell them what Kerry wants to do and we go from there. I don't know if any of them will vote but, at least they are thinking about it.

9. Good advise
I'm sure your enthusiasm is infectious, but I don't think John Kerry wants you to lose your job because of anything to do with him, indirectly of course. Talking politics right now is hazardous anywhere because the stakes are so high and the country so divided. I would stick to not picking on a "captive audience" (so to speak) at your job to try and sway people.

7. A good outcome
Glad it worked out that way. But the sad fact is that if this becomes an issue of any kind in your office, the boss isn't going to like dealing with the hassle, no matter whose fault it is. My guess is that you've already done any good you can hope to do. Better quit while you're ahead and keep your job secure.

12. The fundy who lied should be FIRED
Lying about a co-worker to get them in trouble because they don't like your politics? That's really scummy. You should print out the 10 Commandmants with the part about bearing false witness highlighted and leave it on their desk.

13. what kind of employer do you have?
At my last job I was asked what my faith denomination was by a fundie.
I responded that this was not a conversation I felt comfortable having in a work place
but suggested that a co worker ( and weasel !) may benefit from some spiritual counseling. I was concerned about his risk of backsliding and the sin of pride.
He was not very amused.

rock of ages.....

14. I work at a machine shop we make valves
for mining. It's a small company and the bosses are cool overall there are a couple of the the saturday night bar hoping sunday morning sin condememing type. But politics has never been an issue as far as management goes they only care that we make them look good. The pay is actually pretty good and we even get bonuses and stuff. The funny thing is a lot of them think that I am a christian since I am honest and work hard. You know what a true christian would be like. :)
