Bush-Kerry race tied, says IBD
"A new IBD/TIPP poll put Pres. Bush and Sen. Kerry in a dead heat, suggesting Bush's post convention bounce is quickly disappearing."

I would tend to believe this one because IBD is a conservative newspaper.

1. When they say this:
"Past elections have shown intensity of candidate support strongly influences voter turnout," he said.

IBD's poll shows Bush's intensity numbers are 25 percentage points above Kerry's 60%.

I think they are missing is how deeply, intensely people hate Bush. Don't get me wrong, I really like John Kerry, I think he will be an excellent president. But they should do a 'how much do you hate W.rong' poll question, too, if they want an accurate picture of the mood of the electorate.

Maybe people are not "intense" about supporing Kerry, but surely they are intense about not-supporting Bush. And they will go to the polls because of that.

3. agree that Bush is hated but so I John Kerry by the fundies
Also, thanks to the Kerry campaign Bush has tuned him into a clown, someone who flip flops and cannot be taken seriously. Oh the irony, but perception is everything. With all the material they have on Bush they have chosen to not (really) fight back. Let's just hope that it's not too late. I got an e-mail asking for more money too. For what?? Kerry raised almost as much as Bush, more than any Dem, ever and look at the situation we're in.

Believe what you want, but this race is not even, we're behind about 5%. Every other poll shows at least that much, and it sucks.

4. Polls are meaningless, really
Even this one.

We have the Gore votes, plus disgruntled Republicans, and new young voters registering to vote in droves. Not to mention all the soldiers who wanna come home.

LANDSLIDE!!

5. polls tell you if you still "have" the people
you can't assume that you "have" the people. You have to fight for them.

6. The way you fight for them
is by getting out to volunteer.

I believe turnout is the key to winning this election. We win by signing them up and turning them out. Last time was close, this time will be close. The pubbies cheat and the media sucks. We need to believe in ourselves and get out and do the work OURSELVES that it will take to put John Kerry in the white house.
