AWOL Document Forgeries: The only good END
I only see one way that the CBS Document forgery story can
end up helping, rather than just distracting from revelations about Coke and Abu Ghraib.

Here is how:

1. Killian had his private, CYA files with him after his retirement
2. Before he died (1984) he had a secretary clean up his
files including retyping scribbled or partial notes
(using modern IBM Selectric)
3. He left these files with a trusted confidant (secret lover) before
he died.
4. The confidant is reluctant to come forward because of respect
for his memory and his family.
5. The confidant finally comes forward publicly with file of numerous
additional notes, including comments of Bush drunkeness and
drug addiction, .... etc.

Thus:

All the Rove MS Word guru's are confounded by the power of an electric
typewriter.

CBS devotes a full hour of 60 Minutes to all the revelations.

1. Why are you calling them forgeries- when we don't know that to be true.
What news source are you using to declare that these memos are forgeries.

4. Whatever the "truth" most folk now need some complicated explanation
WP ABC etc. will much more easily accept a story of the docs
being reconstructed at a later date rather than typed by
some "other" secretary contemporaneously to when dated - 1971-72.

Remember, the secretary denies any access to those super expensive
IBM selectric composers at the base.

2. Boy I do love this train of thought...
If Rather has been working on this for 5 years, he's just too good of a journalist to not get it right... What year was Bush Govenor of Texas?? Perhaps he started "getting things in order" during the Reagan/Bush years...maybe he was planning on using some of this against poppy??? Or was planning to write a book?? I really do think Rather has a master plan for this...how fun to see it unravel...

3. Honorable Discharges
President Bush’s handlers insist that his honorable discharge shows that he did nothing wrong during his military service.
The Washington Sniper, John Allen Muhammed, received an “Honorable Discharge” from the service in spite of the fact that he was tried and convicted in a court martial on one count of failing to report to his duty station on time, three counts of willfully disobeying an order, one count of striking a noncommissioned officer, one count of wrongfully taking property, and one count of being AWOL.
It would seem that getting an “honorable discharge” is a very low standard to meet.

NOTE: See http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/10/24/muhammad.profile/, and Google Muhammed’s name under the headings “court martial” and “honorable discharge” for further confirmation.

6. If "honorable discharge" was the end of the story...
...the Swift Boat Liars wouldn't have been covered at all.

Kerry's bunch would have said, "honorable discharge," and it would have stopped there.

7. Wow, some people have a bizzare sense of needing some closure
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 09:43 PM by Mr_Spock
This is the real world and these bizzaro "fantasy" endings aren't likely to happen. More info will be produced, people will choose side and that will be that. I personally believe that ANY issue discussed long enough about a persons character makes people think "somethings there" if it keeps being discussed and nobody can prove it wrong AND THE KNUCKLEHEAD IN QUESTION IGNORES the enormity of the attacks on his character - making the attacks SEEM ALL THE MORE CREDIBLE. Just ask JK how he should have better dealt with SBV. It's too late by the tiem you figure out that you should have taken the growing story more seriously. They aren't as smart as you guys give them credit for - evil, yes - smart? - only sometimes.

9. Agreed. There is "something there"
and Bush is guilty.
