Edwards: "No Draft When John Kerry is President"

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. - Vice presidential candidate John Edwards (news - web sites) promised a West Virginia mother on Wednesday that if the Democratic ticket is elected in November the military draft would not be revived.

During a question-and-answer session, the mother of a 23-year-old who recently graduated from West Virginia University asked Edwards whether the draft would be reinstated.

"There will be no draft when John Kerry (news - web sites) is president," Edwards said, a statement that drew a standing ovation.

I'm annoyed that no one has asked this question to them yet, but I'm glad that this is the answer.

This needs to be a major fucking talking point! Less nuance! More common sense!

..... not that I'm against nuance or am not a nuanced guy myself, but Kerry needs to tone it down a bit.
