The media makes the polls close because they need a horse race
They know it's gonna be Kerry in a landslide, they are just trying to make it seem close for ratings.

Sort of how Al Michaels will try to sell a team losing by 17 points with 3 minutes to go as 'still in the game' because 'anything can happen'.

It's all about the hype, man.

Let's keep fighting and give them the landslide that they will all claim as a shocker.

3. Media doing what the corporations are telling them to do
Cuz Kerry in a landslide is gonna be hard to reconcile with the neocon plans to boot the vote.

4. I remember months ago Matthews saying he wanted a close race.
Except for the true believers, like those on FAUX, I think you are right. This is a game to them.

6. I'm with you on this
A lopsided race is pretty boring. Look at 1996. Most boring election ever.

A neck-and-neck race that gets blood boiling is what sells news.

I'm not completely sold on there being a RW media (though many talking heads show their obvious bias), but I do feel that they like to make like this thing is closer than it is.

If they're propping up Bush so much, it's because Kerry's in pretty good shape.

7. I am convinced that the polls are dishonest. . .
Even here in my VERY conservative area of northern IN the Kerry stickers and yard signs are proliferating and Bush-Cheney stickers are rare. Hell, even in the rich historic neighborhood (the expensive Victorians) every other house has a Kerry-Edwards sign and there are NO Bush-Cheney signs. It blows my mind every time I drive past there. Remember that we are being lied to, big time.
