Whoa. Did anyone catch what Franken's guest said...
That Bush is the first president since John Quincy Adams to NEVER veto a bill in his four years. Not one.

8. JQA was also the only other Son of a Former Pres to be "Pres"
though JQA may have actually been legit. JQA and his father--and Bush's--were also one-termers. Cross your fingers!

9. Well, not exactly legit
Edited on Thu Sep-16-04 01:45 PM by RatTerrier
Went to a source book, "The Complete Book Of United States Presidents" for this.

Andrew Jackson beat JQA in a crowded field (including William Crawford and Henry Clay), both in popular vote (152,993 to 115,696) and electoral (99-84). The election was thrown into the house according to the 12th Amendment. They narrowed it down to Jackson, Adams and Crawford, casting aside Clay. Clay turned around and supported Adams.

A state vote was held February 9, 1825, and Adams wound up carrying his states, plus Clay's and snagged three states from Jackson. Jackson got his revenge four years later.

John Q. Adams and George W. Bush: Yet another interesting coincidence.

12. There ya go!
The major difference between the two is that JQA actually had some pronciples. He was boldly anti-slavery.
