Obama at Health Summit, "WE DID NOT GET IT DONE!!"
Edited on Thu Mar-05-09 05:33 PM by vaberella
When he talks about health care. He said that we have to work on it now because of all the years and the times we had availabe "we did not get it done", now we have to do that.

Once again the 120 or so people mentioned are in the audience and some of the nurses are from the democratic party and there was a doctor from Columbia Presbyterian (my local hospital in NYC) who was there talking about public financed health care. Plus there was talk on bringing down the health care disparity in minorities such as African Americans, Latinos, and Native American.

The small forum led me to believe we will phase out private insurance with public financed insurance and after the full completion of the summit I don't see that changing but even more forceful. The Repubs care about costs but Obama seemed to say he reserved the right to come up with some plans to push forward. I think this my take several months if not a year to push. But he pimped out Rangel, TK, NPelosi, and Harry Reid out there and even mentioned Boehner in getting things done. In the end, it's gonna happen and there's nothing it seems anyone can do..you can watch the vid here guys..

Check out the link below! A poster provided it and apparently Obama is providing a link to the videos and transcripts I believe. So for those who missed it...you'll get to catch up.

Edit: If it's not up on their site Cspan said it would be aired again at 8pm eastern. I believe. But will also be in their archives.

Can we give Credo to Transparency!!!

1. If the American people knew how deeply
the health care system in this country has been corrupted, we would have a single payer system this year.

The health care system is corrupted from top to bottom. The patient has become the least important thing in the entire equation.

The insurance companies are corrupt.
The hospitals are corrupt.
And about 3/4 of doctors are corrupt.
Just about everything about it is corrupt.

10. One has to wonder what advancements in cures has been halted due to pharmaceuticals.
After all, it's more profitable to treat a disease than cure one.

6. Hi-FIVE!!! Agreed. He really cares.
Everything he says is in deep thought, respectful, and definitely looking at the pros and cons. I'm glad we can get this done.

9. I would think corporate America would want this big time
Offload the financial responsibility from them to the government. Of course taxes will go up to support it, but the end game is lower health care costs than the current system.

11. They do....however...
I wouldn't be surprised if some of the key CEOs have investment accounts in Pharmaceutical AND health insurance programs.

13. Yes, taxes will go up. But when your employer doesn't have to pay
your health insurance, your wages should go up even more, because of the inherent efficiencies in single-payer.

15. Totally..
It's his norm. He gets you with those one liners and runs with it. And I was glad he said it because it drives the truth home to Repubs. You had the chances and nothing happened. Now we're making it happen.
