2. Yes, that's the obvious way
Give them $28.65 billion instead of $30 billion. And declare victory.

11. Under this scenario, the folks who helped create this severe recession
still walk away with big fat bonuses for their efforts.

That's not a victory.

3. Yeah, but people don't want idiot AIG employees getting bonuses in the first place.
This plan totally misses that.

4. If you just gave them the next payment less the
bonus money, that would short some necessary cost that needed to be paid for. Personally, I think there is still a lot of waste in what AIG is getting--but then I can't imagine receiving that kind of money.

5. yeah...that will show the cats with the $165 million that they can't pull that shit....

6. How about this
Edited on Wed Mar-18-09 09:38 PM by jeanpalmer
Just bump the payment up to $31.65 billion, subtract the $165 million in bonuses, and give them the original $30 billion. That's how to really punish them. Certainly Congress could agree on that, if campaign contributions were immediately sent to the RNC and DNC..

7. Well it is Washington afterall. First there is the beating of the breast, followed by the BS,
thereby ushering in the marriage to morality contract, promptly beginning the finger pointing and at long last the repentence....resignation, repugnance, and then finally the Congressional sex act...

Acceptance and the pay off.

The sermon of Congress. So sayeth the Lords.
