1. Yes, we know. I'm just waiting for ihateobama DUers to jump on this.
He should just sincerely apologize, take a day or so worth of bad press, and move on.

10. I agree
that he should and no doubt will apologize.

But I think this bad press will last quite awhile. You know that damned "liberal" MSM just loves something like this and will be spewing it as often as they possibly can for weeks to come.

He'll move on, most of the country will move on, Fox and the rest of them are just getting started with this one.

3. i agree with you completely
from start to finish.

i would say it's "boneheaded" and "insensitive" as opposed to "awful" which would seem to indicate some malice which i'm sure there was none.

i have had to consciously work to avoid using the word "retarded" in recent years towards people and things i thought were stupid. it was just thoughtless on my part, it didn't signify anything larger.

4. They put out this statement:
"The president made an off-hand remark making fun of his own bowling that was in no way intended to disparage the Special Olympics," White House deputy press secretary Bill Burton said. "He thinks the Special Olympics is a wonderful program that gives an opportunity for people with disabilities from around the world."

8. oh
yea, typical boilerplate response.
Better still would be his actually apology. I'm not a worshiper per se,
I just wish he would have come away with zero drama.

6. I have a nephew who is mentally disabled.
He's 23, but has the cognitive level of a 6 year old. And it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, my nephew would probably think it's funny. I can hear him now "Hah, hah, hah. The president in Special Olympics. No, that's silly."

It's probably politically incorrect, but I think Obama will gracefully apologize and we will all get over it.

Is this the next overblown outrage?

9. They already gave a statement when asked about it:
"The president made an off-hand remark making fun of his own bowling that was in no way intended to disparage the Special Olympics," White House deputy press secretary Bill Burton said. "He thinks the Special Olympics is a wonderful program that gives an opportunity for people with disabilities from around the world."

7. I didn't hear it, but...

I'm waiting for the faux outrage from people (Republicans) who normally don't give a fuck about the Special Olympics. President Obama will say something once in awhile that makes me go, 'uh-oh', only because I know Republican fuckers are waiting with pens in hand to jot it down so they can rag about it for days. He doesn't do it to be mean or insensitive. I love his blunt honesty, but in a society where large groups of rightwing asshats are perpetually offended by stupid shit, he will no doubt need to apologize.

13. Remember all the claims of "sexism" against Palin coming from them?
These are the same assholes who have used sexist language constantly on their radio shows for years, and suddenly they're concerned about sexism? Right. Completely false outrage. I fully expect Rush "Barack the Magic Negro" Limbaugh to be ranting and raving about this tomorrow, about what an awful person Obama is...despite the fact that fatass Rush has been more politically incorrect than just about any celebrity over the last 20 years.

14. Here goes Politico:
Misstep? Obama's effort to mix his serious talk with more light-hearted fare on his taped Tonight Show appearance was overshadowed when in an attempt to mock his own lackluster bowling skills, he said his recent 129 score in a game in the White House bowling alley was "like the Special Olympics or something."
