My brother is autistic with severe behavioral problems and lives in a group home
Edited on Thu Mar-19-09 09:19 PM by AllentownJake
I've volunteered for special olympics growing up and my brother was a beneficiary of that program.

I can give a flying fuck about the special olympics comment and my brother will still like the Super Obama T-shirt I gave him.

I'm more worried about the dumb ass idea that was floated to tax health benefits, Geithner sucking at Treasury, and other real things than an off handed comment.

That's all.

gesture toward Grassley who is the head Republican on that committee and supports that idea. Obama has never been for it. He is just trying to make a gesture of being open.

edit add - I'm sorry. I posted on a substantive issue. I beg your forgiveness. I'll go start my own "Special Olympics" thread.

and shove it straight up his fucking ass.

That's what I want my President to do.

with Downs syndrome adults. He's developmentally disabled. I think he would think it's funny that the president said that. His focus would most likely be on how silly it would be for the president to think he could be in the Special Olympics.

I could give a flying fig. There are a lot of things far more important to worry about.

13. Don't forget DU's Obama hater brigade
Addicted to hysteria and faux outrage, I'm sure they will get their rocks off for at least 48-72 hours.

16. Honestly, it's hard to tell the difference anymore
Checkout the daily stock market watch thread on LBN. You could cut and paste the thread on FR and I challenge anyone to pick out the DU and FR posters.

By the way, as someone else said up thread, you're a very good brother.

President Obama wasn't saying that maliciously. And it is a fact he is a terrible bowler.

9. Sorry, but that's sorta like me saying
"my black friend over here LOVES my racist joke"

Doesn't make it right, or less stupid. Neither you nor your brother have been elected "Representative of all Special Olympians" empowered with forgiving a stupid remark. The President will just have to own up to using a group of people as the butt of a joke (as we all do), and apologize.

Or he'll have Trig Palin to deal with!

Edited on Thu Mar-19-09 09:54 PM by AllentownJake
and I spent alot of time volunteering at the NAACP and my black friend also hit me with a golf club in a rage and knocked me out before he had to go to the group home and I went to visit my black friend and take him shopping and for lunch twice a month (he's an hour a way) to get the care he needed and I gave up a good job where I was happy a few hundred miles away and ruined a relationship that was heading in the right direction just so I could be around to help my mother after my father died in visiting my black friend I guess that would be the same

I guess I really didn't know what the rules were for being designated "Representative of all Special Olympians", I suppose it's different for racial minorities...

14. Fine
This is as dumb as when Biden made the clean and articulate remark...I'm sure the Shrivers will have no problem speaking up for the President...if that's what you fucking want.

So when Eunice Shriver speaks up as a sibling and takes cover for Obama you gonna say the same thing?

excuse to trot out her prop baby and act like she gives two craps about special needs people.

18. I AM autistic and I think people are making a big deal about nothing.
I make self-deprecating jokes involving my social screw-ups and sensory sensitivities all the time and I don't think I'm offending myself. Then again this is probably one of those "social things" I have issues with...
