Edited on Thu Mar-19-09 11:34 PM by Clio the Leo
So .... "that's like the Special Olympics" turns out his remark was NOT a comment on his bowling skills but about Jay's praise of his less-than superior performance. (Like giving a hug to a Special Olympian just because they tried and not ONLY because they won.)

Ok .... everybody breathe .... what's on the schedule for tomorrow? We back to Geithner/Dodd again? :)

Call me a cheerleader if you like but I've yet to see the man make a "mistake" or act out of character that wasn't explained once I knew the whole story. ;)

4. We could go back to the "lipstick on a pig" outrage before the republics do.
They seem to be running in circles, so I'm thinkin' they'll be back to that one shortly you betcha.

After all the pain, suffering and misery that went on here over that man... :scared:

And you want to know what's really messed up??? I was talking about the inauguration a few weeks ago to some America-mad Aussies I know and I COULDN'T EVEN REMEMBER THE MAN'S NAME. I had to Google "pastor at inauguration" and since I knew it wasn't Rev. Lowery, it had to be the other name that kept coming up. Ain't that a trip?!??

28. Would a Republican in the play-room with two hookers getting beat up by his wife with a toy guitar
count?

Gary Skoien, Former Cook County GOP Chair, Beaten By Wife After Being Found With Prostitutes: Police Report

The former chairman of the Cook County Republican Party denies he was with two prostitutes when his wife allegedly attacked him over the weekend.

Palatine Township GOP committeeman Gary Skoien (SKOY'-ehn) said Wednesday that two female friends were at his Inverness home around 1 a.m. Sunday when his wife assaulted him.

A report filed by a Barrington-Inverness police officer says Eni Skoien found her husband in the children's playroom with two prostitutes. But Skoien disputes the report and says he's working to correct it.

The report says Eni Skoien allegedly swung a toy guitar at her husband and punched him. Police say she's charged with misdemeanor domestic battery and a 21-day restraining order was issued.

Gary Skoien isn't charged with a crime.

Skoien is best known for placing a $10,000 bounty on Mayor Daley four years ago, offering the money to anyone who could provide information leading to the mayor's conviction on corruption charges. The ploy got Skoien fired from his job, booted from the Metra board and almost cost him his seat as party chairman.

Though Skoien strongly denied his wife's account, Republican candidates are fleeing the scene:

As word of the incident got around local political circles, two candidates on the Republican slate for Palatine Township board asked the Daily Herald to remove Skoien from their lists of endorsements.

Why do we do this to ourselves over and over again? Once again DU loses it's head over something no one had even seen at the time.

I was dreading watching Leno because of the "poutrage". Now that I've seen the video, I have no idea what the deal is. The President was obviously making fun of Jay's over-exuberant praise of his admittedly low bowling score.

accomplishment? I don't think so. So, it was indeed insensitive.

It is obviously not worth the noise people make about it, but the fact that people cannot see why it is a problem bothers me for them, not for Obama (who saw the problem and issued a statement apologizing). Are you a cheerleader or just unable to see why it is not a good remark because you think Special Olympics are a joke?

Just let it sink. There are more important things to care about, anyway. But do not try to justify it by some weird rational.
