MSNBC: Chrysler reaches deal with Fiat

Quick results here for the White House. Obama said he'll consider loaning $6 billion to Chrysler if they can make this happen.

2. How'd that last joint venture with Chrysler work out?
Oh yeah, the Germans raided it and left it for dead.

7. That does not mean much
You cannot extrapolate. From what I understand what they expect from Fiat is primarily design and efficient models to fast reach the assembly lines.

Also, and I am not sure at all I remember this correctly, but wasn't there some bailout-type deal with Fiat and the Italian government recently?

Chrysler destroyed the value of high quality German sedans for years with the pathetic junk they've foisted on the redneck male in the US for decades.

6. What took them so long
I don't think they would have ever done anything if it had not been for Obama saying they had 30 days.

WoW!

10. My thoughts, exactly.... I'm surprised Fiat is still in business...
Handcuffing them to Chrysler hardly seems like a "deal"-- for either of them.

12. Maybe under this plan Chrysler will be able to add some small cars to its lineup quickly
Given the number of people spending crazy money on Smart cars, this might not be a bad thing.
