They are so over globalization.

16. We demonstrate. And there are large faith groups involved, so it's pretty non-aggressive.
Although I have heard ANSWER field some certified FIRE-BREATHING speakers at some of the things they have helped with.

26. You forgotten the Battle of Seattle?
I sure haven't. :yoiks: Americans can protest, it just takes some effort to do so, and I doubt that there will be many conferences in Seattle, again. The whole city went insane during the WTO there.

30. I did forget that
It is just that so much shit has happened and people have done little in the way of protest such as that one or as the Europeans have.

9. LOL @ "' banker' rhymes with...."
the answer would of course be "wanker."

That's pretty clever.

13. Ah, the things I learn here at DU
I just asked what banker rhymed with and then read your post. I had to go look up "wanker" to see what it meant.

18. I'm a fan of the reality show "Big Brother"...
..... and that includes the UK version as well. So if you need any more slang translation, lol and Jackeens isn't around, just lemme know. :)

Here's another one for you, "Despite common disagreements on policy, most DU'ers agree that both Barack and Michelle Obama are proper fit."

28. A friend of mine (American) was in England for awhile and
got involved in coaching girls' football (soccer to us). He liked to joke around with the kids and one day said something like: "All right, ya wankers! Get out there and run!" something to that effect, thinking "wanker" was just a generic term like "goof-offs" or similar. Well, the girls stopped in their tracks and looked at him with shock. One reported to her parent: "He called us 'wankers'!" Needless to say, when my friend found out the literal translation he was mortified.

10. What does that A with the circle around it denote. It's in this last photo
and in the one with the sign saying "Capitalism Kills."

Also, there's a sign that says, "Banker rhymes with..." What does Banker rhyme with that's pertinent? Canker? Tanker?

19. In theory: In a more nearly "pure" anarchy, it wouldn't necessarily be one thing or the other.
Again, IN THEORY, it is Oppression of one form or another that results in skew towards one type of manifestation or the other.

33. Police are still imprisoning protestors outside bank of england
on sky news i've heard mothers complaining they need to pick their kids up from school and people pleading with the police tp leave.

There's ordinary folks out there just angry and the police are behaving disgracefully.

REAL ANGER NOW. RBS smashed up and effigies of bankers burnt. Any chance of that on wall street US DUers? Come on you can do it...
