From what I've seen, the police in London are doing a pretty decent job
In holding back the crowd that was trying to break the police line, they didn't wade into the crowd bashing away madly. They haven't used tear gas. And the same goes for the vast majority of protesters who are protesting peacefully.

How would the police in a major American city react?

1. dont worry about that, we'll never get off our butts and hit the streets
I wish we would mobilize every once in a while to keep our rulers on their toes.

7. I mean the kinds of protests that shut things down
A little smashing and burning thrown in for good measure.

13. Teabaggers? Is that a British thing?
I really prefer coffee myself. Folgers Roast Half-Caff, usually. It's the "Third Way" of coffee! :hangover:

17. Oh don't be silly
Remember how great the 1990's were? Under William Jefferson Clinton, the greatest President in the history of the USA? We can have that again, as long as President Obama follows the advice of great men like Larry Summers and Robert Rubin. It will all be better soon.

19. Oh excuse me, I was a part of the lowly Support Element to "a Marine" and spent the 90s
in either the countries of Panama or Japan. I missed most of the 1990s living overseas. By the Way: The Okinawan people want their land back. ;)

The reason that the 1990s were financially good was based on "a lie" - a slight of hand when CREDIT was falsely given to anyone and everyone. It was a house of cards with NO REAL COLLATERAL.

It was A FANTASY built on CREDIT and now the bill is due. :grr: :nuke:

14. Responsible businessMEN who drove our WORLD FINANCIAL system off of the proverbial cliff.
The People have a right to protest - and to DEMAND fairness.

Damn these CROOKS, i.e., "responsible" businessmen who bankrupted America. :puke: :grr: :puke:

BTW I'm an unabashed LIBERAL. Get your terms right. Often times Blue Dog Corporatists and DLCers, such as yourself, refer to themselves as "progressives." Let's avoid that confusion? ;)

6. Yes, benevolent authority is laudable.
It's their job - Crowd Control - to NOT behave like authoritarian thugs.

Yes, kudos. However, I doubt that any of those thoughtful and high functioning Government Worker Police Officers will get "a golden parachute" like the CEO of GM just received?

Just perhaps, the Police can relate to being *financially screwed* like the rest of us unwashed non-investor classes? ;)
