Surprise!!!!The Queen REALLY gave the Obamas puppies!!!!
Well, not really, but the queens corgis had to go for walkies and they are just as enamoured with our First Family as the rest of the world is!

"Corgis belonging to Britain's Queen Elizabeth pass U.S. President Barack Obama's car as they are taken for a walk on the grounds of Buckingham Palace in London April 1, 2009. World leaders arrived in London on Wednesday ahead of a G20 summit meeting under intense pressure to produce a morale-boosting response to the worst economic downturn since the 1930s."

1. I'd wondered how the Obamas got there
Shrub flew in by 'copter and fucked up the lawn much to the Queens's open displeasure.

5. Of course they were not protesting today
against Obama who ironically over here you might as well call " The Great White Hope". He's well thought of here and I have yet to hear any anti remarks whatsofuckingever.

if the reason The Queen keeps corgis maybe becuase she's only a weenie herself - I think The Queen's Mother, who also kept corgis, was short too.

One day when we're able to get more dogs I'd love to add a corgi or two to our doxie pack. Dh's barber breeds them and they're brilliant little pups!

9. Pembroke or Cardigan?
I much prefer the Cardigan Welsh Corgi's temperament to the Pembroke's

Interesting note - even though they look very similar, and they're both called Corgis (Corgi is Welsh for "dwarf dog"), they come from two entirely different lineages:

In the Cardiganshire region of Wales, the Corgi with a tail has been the all around farm dog for centuries. It is an excellent cattle drover and vermin router. Although it has been interbred with the Pembroke Corgi since the 19th Century, it does not have the same ancestors. The Cardigan has Dachshunds and farm Collies in its background and the Pembroke descended from northern Spitz type droving dogs. The small size is an asset in the Corgi's style of droving. It nips the heels of the cows and when they kick in retaliation, it drops to the ground to avoid the flying heels. The little dog is fearless seemingly unaware that it is so small. The first Corgis were shown in Britain in 1925 with both types in a single class. In 1934 the two varieties were separated for show purposes.

10. No-tail Cardi's
Yes, they do have a tendency to herd children and be bossy so they're not ideal with little kids--but they are as smart as hell and love their owners to death.
