Does anyone really care that Justice Dropped the Stevens case.
Edited on Wed Apr-01-09 02:34 PM by Perky
I could care less. Call me jaded but what he was accused and convicted of was hardly outrageous and he got voted out of office anyway. The prosecution was pitiful and full of erro so it is no judicial travesty either.

3. I think that in exchange for the DOJ dropping the case, Stevens should
drop dead. It's the least he could do.

4. As long as he is no longer in office,
and the trial help him lose, I don't care anymore.
He's an old man, and he will pay for his crimes
in a host of different ways soon enough.

6. Agreed. Nothing would be accomplished and he has suffered the
humiliation and lost the election. What more do we want?

5. I wonder what will happen to Fitz's case...
against Blago...now that is far more serious than what they charged Stevens with..but, I bet there is no there, there either. When we get to the big kahuna...Siegelman...and the attorney general firings, that will be worth watching. I wonder how the Special Prosecutor is doing with that?

7. What no one seems to be noticing is that these DOJ prosecutors
Were hired during the Bush reign of terror at DOJ. Just think for a minute -- is it possible that they deliberately fucked up the prosecution of old Teddy boy so it would HAVE to be dropped? Not inconceivable when we think about the trolls the Bush junta left behind in every gov't dept.

13. That was my very first thought.
The prosecutor was most likely a Bush appointee and was either an incompetent Liberty University graduate or a criminal who deliberately erred to get Uncle Ted off.

15. Good point. It's very easy to taint evidence, mishandle witnesses
to the point they're unusable. It's also very easy to mishandle issues of immunity, so that nobody has to say anything at all. You can pretend to be going after a "big" charge, so you give immunity for the "lesser" charge, all the while knowing that you won't be able to prove the "big" one to begin with. It's a scenario of looking tough while doing nothing. Then, when the administration changes, you plop a great big pile of nothing in the laps of the successors.

9. I would probably be less inclined to be annoyed if we had some older
more egregious cases taken care of first.

10. Even without the evidence, Stevens would have been convicted

That's the general consensus of the jurors who were asked about it.

And replaced by a Democrat to boot. I don't care if he's in jail, sitting on his front porch looking at Russia or taking a dirt nap.

The case against him seems to have even more holes in it than Stevens.

19. It bothers the SHIT out of me.....if ANY case needed to be
dropped, its the one against Gov Siegelman. That our "so called justice system" can drop Stevens and not drop his is much more than a travesty. It stinks of SHIT.
