CBS news so concerned about Michelle not having a purse like all the British.
And apparently British women wondering how she is able to do that.

My thought before they brought it up when I saw the Queen with a bag... why the hell does she need to carry a bag with her all the time. I'm sure Queens long time ago didn't carry a bag with them all the time.

1. She's with Barack

He's right there with everything she needs.
And she knows it too.
And she's quite capable of getting it on her own.

"Purse? I don't need no stinkin' purse!"

5. She has a purse?

I guess she needs to keep it visible at all times. Jeez! With all that's going on in the world, this is what they want to talk about?

:grr:

6. What's in the Queens handbag ? See here :

Just personal possessions, photos etc, which are dear to her. Not sure whether or not our previous Queen , Victoria , did the same or not. Prior to that you need to go back to the early 1700 to Queen Anne when there were no cameras for personal photos.

10. She uses the handbag to signal her ladies in waiting.
Ah yes, here's the part:

"And more info:

It's not only what's inside the monarch's bags that is significant, but the bag itself, for she uses it to communicate with her staff in a very subtle manner. Before dining with the Queen, a point is made to inform guests that dinner will end in about five minutes after she places her bag on the table top. On walkabouts, she holds the bag to one side to show she intends to move on, at which point a lady-in-waiting joins the conversation, allowing her to slip away without causing offence. When at a banquet, if the Queen's bag is placed on the floor, then it's a sign that she's not finding the conversation interesting, and wants nothing more than to escape. However, if the royal bag is dangling happily from the crook of her left arm, she is happy and relaxed."

It looks like our First Lady is carrying a light wrap and a small clutch as she walks out.

8. To me this would TOTALLY make up for not being able to go to Taco Bell.
Seriously, just think about it, you cant hop into your car and drive to Taco Belle for 1am burriots when you're the First Family .... BUT you do have people to hold your stuff. So it's a fair trade off I think.

But I guarantee you that skirt had pockets in it. That's one of the best fashion trends of the last few years, more pockets in dresses. I work for a formalwear shop and we have formal gowns with pockets. AWESOME!!!

People in the UK, who are women, carry a purse/bag.

U.S.A. liberated women, have someone to do that FOR them...

Maybe the Queen feels more secure with a purse/bag. Maybe this is important, maybe not at all.

Can you imagine the Queen reaching in her purse, to buy something? Like maybe she needs a pack of cigarettes, or a candy bar, and buys it herself from the five pound note in her purse??? Sure, that happens!~!!!!!!!!!!
