Prosecutors Screwed Up Stevens' Case Because They Were Incompetent.
That's what happens when you hire people based upon ideology and not qualifications.
Holder has a lot of routing out to do. The Bush administration hired everybody on the basis of ideology instead of brains. I'm almost willing to bet that almost none of them ever tried a case.
I know a lot of people here think it was a republican conspiracy to screw the case up, but they were too stupid for that.
Alberto Gonsalves is my proof. The guy wouldn't know the meaning of a law if it hit him smack in the forehead.
And to think they set about trying to get rid of anybody with a brain...
It's chilling what we've been through in the past eight years.
"Justice". As Richard Pryor was fond of saying - "Just Us"
7. Im sure that the "DU dissenters union for goodness and rightness"
will be along shortly to demonstrate how routing out these kinds of problems should have been Obama's number one priority or some such garbage. It wont be long until they call for his impeachment.
The govt. must disclose exculpatory evidence to the defense. What gets me is Stevens is probably guilty and likely would have been convicted even if the Brady material had been disclosed. So the govt.'s efforts to hid the ball was a miscarriage of justice for both the defense and for the prosecution.
Weren't they investigating the justice department in Bush's last year because it came out that they were trying to get rid of attorneys who didn't meet their ideological goals?
To think that they did it on purpose is to say they were willing to just cash in their bar licenses for Ted Stevens.
I'm a lawyer and I don't think so. Why go through the effort of a botched trial? They had the power to not prosecute in the first place.
