BREAKING NEWS: S. Korea: N. Korea launches rocket
Edited on Sat Apr-04-09 10:12 PM by Top Cat
SEOUL, South Korea (CNN) -- North Korea has launched a long-range rocket, a South Korean official confirmed to CNN on Sunday.

The payload of the rocket remains unclear. North Korea has said the rocket was to carry a satellite into space, but the United States, South Korea and other nations fear it could be a missile with a warhead attached.

Earlier Sunday, before the launch, South Korea's national security council called an emergency meeting amid concerns that a North Korean rocket launch was imminent, a presidential spokesperson told CNN Sunday.

On Friday, U.S. President Barack Obama reiterated that the United States strongly opposes any such launch.

Edit: Don Lemon on CNN just reported that N. Korea has a rocket that is capable of reaching Alaska.....

now they have to sit and wait for the game to play out

Concerning, yes but they are desperate and they do not have the cards to play or the cash to stay in the game

As usual (ask any Cold Warrior like Jim Webb) every discussion of foreign policy must have the "What about China?" question.

Not sure of the proximity of production in China to NK but they don't want that trouble on their doorstep. China is not innocent in this-they can make NK move like they want to and it would appear that they have.

Napoleon said "China is a sleeping giant. Let is sleep. Let it sleep." too late the capitalists let them in the game.

6. When did it become illegal for North Korea to orbit a space satellite?
Edited on Sat Apr-04-09 10:53 PM by Better Believe It
And on what other nations do such restrictions exist and who promulgated those (national, international?) laws?
