The purpose of diplomacy is not to be popular
It always cracks me up when Republicans bring that up. Michael Gerson just did it on the Meet The Press roundtable. That's their big critique of Obama, he's popular and that's not everything, lol.

Of course it isn't everything, but these guys feel the need to say that because their boys Bush and Cheney are universally despised around the world.

And since when did Republicans start knowing anything about diplomacy?

mo. It must really sting the type of reception the President is getting from foreign countries and dignitaries.

were/are hated universally.
