2. No, the warmongers will just have to get used to stabbing people and pushing them out of windows.
And as there are big repercussions if the automakers go down, to nix nuclear weapons also has implications for the use of nuclear power, amongst other things...

And how does one convince the governments in the WHOLE world to go along with it?

I'm not against the notion, but there are issues that need to be examined.

3. No Nukes-Period!
And we should lead by example! Maybe the world will dismantle on cue on the same day! World no nukes day! The only reason to have nukes is for destruction. Haven't we done enough to destroy? Close all the unnecessary military stations, and save shitloads of millions! Take the profiteering out of war! Find a new better way to make money!

8. If we were to wake up tomorrow and every nuclear weapon were to magically disappear,
it wouldn't lead to peace at all. Rather, it would probably eventually bring back total war, and would increase the frequency and depth of military action worldwide.

The problem with nukes isn't that they create wars. It's that if they were to be used again in war, it would be disastrous for mankind.

11. It would be better to get rid of conventional forces
More verifiable.

More cost effective.

Removes the triggers that would lead to nuclear war.

Provides final assurance that disarming won't leave the complying country defenseless, which would make a conventional treaty more likely to succeed.

13. Bringing peace will only be achieved by pulling out troops from wars of aggression.
This no nukes stuff sounds all great on paper but has virtually no effect on actual warfare. Which country was the only one in the history of the world to drop nuclear warheads? Oh right.
