3. Yeah. Wonder what if this is objecting to certain actions
or residue left over from the last 8 years?

6. Anti-West
I think it's not much about Obama, except as a symbol. There is division in Turkey about joining the EU, in particular.

12. Those ones would be protesting if Cenk Uygar were president.
Nothing like Turkish nationalists...and the Communists would do the same.

I'm sure FReeper heads are exploding at the thought of Communists protesting Obama...obviously one of their own... :sarcasm:

And I promise that's my only superficial post for the day.

18. Huh
Communists don't like Obama? But...but...Sean Hannity told me he was a communist, so how can that be?

Right-wing talking point Number 789456789 rendered useless.

I have to say, I really love Greenpeace's approach to demonstrating. Unique, visible and compelling.

BTW, isn't that the same monument where Hillary placed a wreath too? I don't recall her getting this kind of reception from demonstrators.

29. Eh,
it happens. And you can't tell from the photos if the demonstrators were at the mausoleum, or somewhere else. At least I can't.

I think this was in Jakarta, that top one says - "Hillary You're Not Welcome Here"

Protests are normal, and usually a lot smaller than they appear in closely cropped photos.

22. No Women Pictured
except in protest pics.

Are there no women in Turkish Parliament?

Democracy & Islam = No women allowed?

Where's Michele - did they not want her sticking out like a sore thumb in the men only crowd?

24. 4.4% of the 2007 parliament were women
Not sure if that's changed since - here's a 2007 BBC article on the issue:

Looks like the Communist Party of Turkey and Fox News get their Obama photos
from the same source. Odd.
