In 2008, it was "Hope and Change"
In 2010/2012... will it be "America is back!"??
Rahm Emanuel inadvertently used that phrase to pool reporters in Turkey yesterday to describe Obama's trip.
It's growing on me. And it would make a great '10/'12 bumper sticker.
In 1984, Reagan rode "Morning in America" to a 49-state wipeout victory.
In 2012, Obama will ride "America is back!" to a similar victory.
Americans DESPERATELY want to feel proud about their country again after 8 long years. It's human nature to want to latch on to a positive message.
The Republicans will be preaching doom-and-gloom, end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it themes in the next elections.
We're in for a rough 2009 economically, but most economists predict small growth in 2010. In think "small growth", given the context we're living in now, will SEEM like an economic boom. Couple that with our improved standing in the world and a MAJOR decrease in anti-Americanism around the globe... and I think "America is back!" is a perfect theme for the 2010 midterms and 2012 presidential election.
Now... someone more talented than me.... get to work on that bumper sticker!
