Hey Newt, remember all the pro-religious right wing zealots in Bush's administration?
They were intensely fundamentalist.

Obama administration 'anti religious,' Gingrich says
CNN 4/8/09

Newt Gingrich said Tuesday the Obama administration is "intensely secular" and "anti-religious," the former House Speaker's second hard-hitting criticism of the new administration this week.

In an interview with FOX News, Gingrich said he strongly disagreed with Obama's choice of Harry Knox — an outspoken activist for gay rights — to the White House advisory council on faith-based initiatives.

"I think their goal is to have a very secular America in which government dominates everything," he said. "Why wouldn't you put an anti-religious, left-wing zealot on a faith-based group? It's a perfect pattern for this administration."

2. Let's do the math here...
One Newt (+) FOX News = Bullshit

Hey, Newt! Read David Kuo's book Tempting Faith--

In his book, Kuo wrote that White House staffers would roll their eyes at evangelicals, calling them "nuts" and "goofy."

Asked if that was really the attitude, Kuo tells Stahl, "Oh, absolutely. You name the important Christian leader and I have heard them mocked by serious people in serious places."

Specifically, Kuo says people in the White House political affairs office referred to Pat Robertson as "insane," Jerry Falwell as "ridiculous," and that James Dobson "had to be controlled." And President Bush, he writes, talked about his compassion agenda, but never really fought for it.

"The President of the United States promised he would be the leading lobbying on behalf of the poor. What better lobbyist could anybody get?" Kuo wonders.

That's right, Newt: Bush et al played the "Christian Right" like the chumps they are...

10. Yes - of course
Between he and rush, I can't decide who is the bigger hypocrite. All people have to do is be reminded of why newt resigned as Speaker.

6. Harry Knox is a man of faith, as they say
He was a Methodist minister, and his left wing 'zealotry' has been all about faith. He was in charge of Human Rights Campaign's Religion and Faith Programs. They send out speakers and have resouces for ministers...
He's far from anti-religious, he's religious. He's perfect for the job. And mind you, I oppose the office totally. But if they are doing it, he's a great choice. All religious folks do not thik alike, and not all of them are opposed to human rights.
I am happy to have a chance to say to the White House, on a faith issue, that I agree with their choice and stand with them against the backward Newt and his Party of exclusion. It does my heart good.

7. Anyone catch the interview where Newt says he's converted to Catholicism?
I'm sure his good Baptist friends love that.

9. The intolerance of the christian right rears it's ugly head again
It kills me how up in arms they get over one gay rights activist being added to the faith based council, like it would bring the whole religious world to it's knees to have one person who doesn't shares their views at the table. They they be any more intolerant to views other then their own? They demand that everyone respect their faith and religious views, yet refuse to respect anyone else's or lack their of.
