Can't we just make it an even $20,000...LOL :banghead:

"President Obama currently earns $400,000 per year, along with a $50,000 expense account, a $100,000 nontaxable travel account and $19,000 for entertainment"...

We need an emergency supplemental.

2. Well, when you think about it,
it's not like he can just pop down to the neighborhood bar for a beer and a ball game.

4. That's true - Can't just take Sasha & Malia to Pizza Hut
without it being a major event..

I remember him saying in an interview how, when they were in Hawaii in December, taking the girls for shave ice (which is basically a snow cone with ice cream; very popular in Hawaii) was a federal issue!...

6. We call it Hawaiin shaved ice here
And they are much better than a snow cone. Mmmmm, I can't wait to get a banana flavored one when they open the huts back up for summer.

16. Nice freeper bullshit your spewing
That story is simply not true.

The guy from Chicago flew on coach that he paid for himself as he had business to do in Washington.

Since he was going to D.C., the President asked him to come over and make some of his delicious pizza.

Nobody flew anybody in from anywhere -- and the RW blog you got it off of has already been completely debunked.

5. No hookers for Obama. I read in a biography on Obama that he came
back to Chicago from some Congressional Black Caucus event almost in tears because so many women were "coming on" to him. Apparently it was "party girl" central.

I personally feel some GOP types probably hired some call girls and said "go get Obama" so his career would be ruined when he first hit Congress. But that is just a guess.

Anyhow...no hookers for Obama. He's deeply in love with his wife. He doesn't stray.

8. Yup. I've worked in the hotel industry over the years and have come across people I think are
working girls. They don't seem like a happy lot. I was saying today to someone I wonder what the resources are like to help these women find new lives. I hope that if they get off drugs there are programs out there for them.

9. I'm Poutraged! Poutraged! When the Premier of China pops over, just take him to Burger King!
If you live in the White House in a security bubble, and your food is cooked by the White House staff, how the fuck do you think you're going to have entertainment that isn't expensive?

I'm shocked it's only $19,000. I would have expected it to be at least 10 times that.

10. I opened this thread wondering if and how someone had a large enough angst supply
to be pissed about this. My only actual shock was how low the number was. Like so low that to function you'd inherently have to rob Peter to pay for Paul to have a ball. I bet a movie print ain't cheap and the off the books entertaining has to be a killer, just the booze for the cocktail parties will eat it all up in mere weeks.

11. I'm assuming this has to be family entertainment only
Edited on Sun Apr-12-09 09:11 AM by HamdenRice
because you couldn't host one state dinner for less that a few hundred thousand.

I guess it must be budget items for like when the family uses the White House movie theater (renting a movie print as you point out) or has strictly personal friends over.

Even so, I can't imagine how they could live in that bubble, have everything required to be catered and controlled, and do even the minimum normal family stuff for $19,000.

13. they can't, they don't and they won't.
For instance, Obama paid for the pizza ingredients himself. And the chef did it gratis.

18. I know you've been here a while but your spelling and grammar
leave much to be desired. And it's very indicative that you spend time on other websites not known for its command of the issues or basic English grammar.

15. I see what you're trying to say, but I don't think a WH chef can do it gratis
He's on the payroll and if, for example, the Obamas have a personal party and the chef cooks, his time is allocated for the event.

Sort of like the fake scandal in 2000 over whether Gore had adequately accounted for his time making governmental calls and "political" calls.

19. All that outrage over fake stories is being fomented in the RW blogosphere.
You think that they'd be worried about more important things. :eyes:
