Cavuto:FOX News Coverage For Tea Parties Same As For Million Man March But FNC Did Not Exist At Time
Neil Cavuto has been defending FOX News' coverage of the upcoming tax day tea parties by repeatedly suggesting that FOX News gave similar coverage to the Million Man March. But the Million Man March occurred October 16, 1995 whereas FOX News was not operating until October 7, 1996, nearly a year later.

On yesterday's (April 11, 2009) Cavuto on Business, Cavuto claimed that FOX was only covering the tea parties because of their newsworthiness. Forgetting FOX News' aggressive promotion of the tea parties, Cavuto said, “We do not pick and choose these rallies and protests (to cover). We were there for the Million Man March, even though, as I pointed out, it turned out to be well shy of a million men.” He went on to say that “we were there” for the Iraq war protests (but I'm willing to bet dollars to doughnuts, as my mother used to say, that FOX News never gave the Iraq war protests anything like the same kind of promotional effort FNC is giving the tea parties.) … so you see, we really don't decide what popular causes matter.”

On April 8, Cavuto also suggested there had been equivalent coverage of the tea parties and the Million Man March. “We covered (the Million Man March) because we thought it had a worthy message, too.”

And even if FOX News had been around during the Million Man March, I'd be willing to bet dollars to doughnuts again that they would never have given it the same kind of coverage the tea parties are getting.

4. Reporting does not cover having a fund raiser to help defray the costs
of the tea parties.

"Beck isn't just helping with turnout. Discussing his participation in the
upcoming protest at the Alamo in San Antonio on his syndicated radio
program, Beck announced, "I'm going to do a fundraiser for them" to help
defray costs. "So you can come and you can have lunch with me. ... I
don't know any of the details, but I've heard it's like $500 a plate or
something like that." I'm guessing they won't be serving pizza with a
price tag clocking in at 500 bones per ticket. The clown, on the other
hand? I'm told Beck makes amazing balloon animals."

8. Aww you are not giving them enough credit. In order to consistently lie, they have to know the
difference between the truth and the lie, or statistically they would be truthful more often. They lie just to prove they can.

6. I remember very well Faux News's coverage of the Iraq War protests
At one point, when the protesters passed by one of their studios, the ticker at the bottom of the screen read, "Attention protesters... the Michael Moore fan club is not meeting here today."

Fair and Balanced. Yep.

7. Why are you picking on Neil and Faux News? What do you want, truthful reporting?
Lying is not only acceptable on Faux News but a tactic.

9. They're actively promoting it. They're telling people to GO to them! They're having their
"top" anchors appear at different "tea parties" across the country and telling people to join them. They are so FULL of it! And they had the nerve to call it "fair and balanced coverage" yesterday! :eyes:

10. If they DID cover the Million Man March I'm 100% sure they would'nt have PROMOTED it
and told people to JOIN the march! Same with anti-war protests. Could you imagine them PROMOTING the protests, telling people to JOIN them with different Faux hosts at different anti-war events with their anti-war signs?
