Have we LOST to the Teabaggers...
...simply by giving them so much friggin' exposure?

Outside of Fox News and political blogs like this one, very few people seem to know or care what the hell all the hoopla is all about--but come here, and you'd think all us liberals were truly watching these Tea Parties with bated breath, afraid of the imminent "Revolution."

The polls bear this idea out too--every reliable yardstick I've seen says that the vast majority of the country trusts Obama and the Dems and has mostly turned its back on the GOP. Fox News will trumpet their high ratings, of course, but only because the remaining 35% or so of the country who truly fear the "Marxist Islamo-Fascist Kenyan Commie" in the White House are too wigged out to watch anything BUT Fox News.

And yes, I'm aware of the irony of giving the Teabaggers MORE exposure by contributing yet another OP about them, so don't bother pointing that out...

1. Apart from DU, I've seen little mention of the stupid teabagging.
Yep, I think it's gotten too much attention here. One or two threads would have been enough. Really.

3. I think this will play out like the idiots outside Terry Schiavos house
Not all exposure is good. When the opposition is reduced into pouring bags of tea away as a form of protest then I think all you should do is sit back, watch and laugh.

I only wish they dress like native americans while they do it.

20. I agree with you
This Mad Tea Party is quietly being hijacked by people who make Glen beck look calm and grounded. Ron Paul personality cultists, Federal Reserve conspiracy theorists, and god knows who else seem to be latching on to this thing. If they show up with their rattlesnake flags, guns on their waists, cheap tricorner hats, etc, it will blow up in the face of the more-or-less mainstream Republicans who are showing up at this event.

...DailyKos, HuffPost and other left-leaning blogs are playing this up as well; Olbermann, Maddow, and even Stewart and Colbert have all gotten into the mix.

But why? These rallies express the opinions of a minority of a minority who got their asses handed to them last November.

8. Because we're all holding our collective breath
waiting for someone to tell them what teabagging is. Preferably on camera. And once they've recovered from that (assuming they do) someone has to tell them what M4M means. And thus the hilarity ensues.

7. I think it is quite funny and a nice change of pace from all the flame wars on...
pirates and pets, bailouts and betrayals, you name it versus you name it. It will soon pass, TB day is tomorrow. I did love the segments Rachel Maddow and David Shuster did on this, they were hilarious.

Exposure to light is the best disinfectant.
And these are dangerous people even though they seem ridiculous to us...But it did not pay to ignore the KKK or a corporal in the WW1 army when he was spouting his message in the beer halls of Germany.

14. Tomorrow will be an extremely funny day. I can't wait. Reality is
funnier than fiction. Faux News will be toast after this fiasco. Not even the loyal Faux watchers will be able to talk about Faux with a straight face. Every reply I will have to 'any' right wing nut job screed will be this sarcastic sentence, "Did you hear that on the Fair and Balanced news network Faux News? Gee. They did a great job with the tea bagging of America. Didn't they?"

27. I live in rural NY state, and have been invited to a tea party by two different people
just sayin.

I don't talk politics with the fact-deprived Pox watchers. I just don't know what to say to people who need an entire education in history, politics, media and critical thinking... I completely lose my ability to say anything, because the gap is so huge.

The two who asked me are nice people, apart from being infected. But when they do start trying to needle me, I sweetly say, "Now now, I don't get on your case about your beliefs..." It's stopped them, they admit I'm nice... not like those other liberals...then it comes out, I'm the only liberal they know!!

18. No. Overexposure will sink them and sound Faux News's death knell.
Pukes and Faux are promoting this as bigger than Obama rallies; calling it a revolution - hundreds of thousands of people!!

What they don't understand is that the people who show up, those who will be on TV are complete idiots and not as well-behaved as those hand-picked for Bush rallies. And there won't be hundreds of thousands.

Sane middle-of-the-road Americans will find the whole mess ridiculous, as they should.

The world is changing and the phony baloney games of the right are dunzo.

19. No. Trying to ignore them won't work.
What works best is calling them out. When they use racist or hateful rhetoric, call them out. When they astroturf (and the Teabagg'n is a prime example of an astroturf campaign,) call them out. When they act like assclowns at all, call them out for it!

The stench of these teabags is too great.

Do I breathe through my mouth so that the stench is less offensive but draw the foul air directly into my lungs, or through my nose with it's filtration system, but have to bear the acrid aroma???

I shall hold my breath!!!

in November.

That 10% of the population who believe everything Rush and Hannity says were never ours or Obamas to lose. We never had them. And never will.

And honestly do we realy want folks who are that stupid as to believe the whole "Marxist, Islamo-Fascist Kenyan Commie" faction of the population? Let the GOP keep them IMHO.

29. The Teabagger "Movement" is a marketing ploy for Fixed Noise. It's vapor roots
Sure, there are some concerts or whatever. But basically, it's a Halfwit Parade led by right-wing college dropouts who so happened to be right-wing radio talk show hosts...

You won't see any other channel pimping for the fake, overblown Teabag "Movement". It's simply a way for the Mullet Theocrats to have a party this summer. These people are nothing more than the last shrinking Southern Bible Belt Repig Whig Party.

31. I agree, it's all Faux News. The other networks and local news will cover it tomorrow, but
I think most viewers will think it's pretty stupid. Most likely, the reports will feature interviews with the biggest dumb-shits in attendance. I saw a flyer for a local tea party today, so I think it will be big enough to garner some attention.

But still, the Boston Tea Party was appropriate because the colonists were being taxed by people who did not represent them. These idiots don't understand that they are being represented, just not by their guys. We won, they lost. It's really just, "We lost the election so we're protesting." What a bunch of frakking idiots.

but the radio station affiliated with that station is promoting several "tea parties" at various locations - and selling bus tickets to get there! They are making money on the Teabagers! So far I have seen nothing on any standard national news program about them, only on political networks like CNN.
