To the rest of the (incredulously baffled) world; tomorrow, April 15,
is the day US taxes are due for the tax year January 1, 2008 - December 31, 2008. As you know, (and apparently George W. bUsh supporters do not), that would be President George W. bUsh's tax rates, as he was, supposedly, the president during the entire 2008 tax year.

So tomorrow, the rightwing bush-supporters of this nation are going to protest against President Obama for George W. bUsh's 2008 "crippling tax rates".

They are also going to protest against President Obama for signing the largest tax cuts in US history, because they are tired of his "crippling tax rates".

Hope that clears it all up for you.

And yes, we sentient Americans are as incredulously baffled as you are.

3. I stand in awe ...

... of the depths of the stupidity.

One of my wingnut cousins actually sent me some tax rate numbers and such today, showing me how "oppressed" the middle class are.

The thing is, the numbers were correct. They weren't current, but they were correct, which is actually even funnier. They were, as you point out, tax rates implemented during the Bush regime.

I just sat and stared at the e-mail for awhile before I broke down laughing.

48. Oh, I don't bother ...

... not directly anyway. If I do make the attempt, I end up with a flood of crap e-mail from various people this cousin knows chiding me on my wicked ways and offering prayer or death ... or both. (I'll take the cake, thanks ... sorry, had an Eddie Izzard moment.) This cousin, when my daughter was born, initiated a campaign to try to get me to give up my daughter for adoption to a "Christian home" so as to "save her soul from Hell." I learned from that how certifiably insane she is and that trying to deal with her directly would just make me crazy.

I do, however, play this silly game that makes me feel better and irritates her to no end. She's fascinated with my Facebook page. It is, I guess, a testament to my sinful ways that I suspect she uses at her church gatherings to make some sort of point. But, she won't interact with it directly, possibly because she knows if she does I'll just kick her off, and she seems desperate for that not to happen. (I think she looks at it the way some people look at porn. They won't admit it, but they *need* it.) So, I make oblique references there or post something that I know will make her tea pot boil, and a few weeks later my mother tells me how I've created yet another uproar, which is satisfying.

Today I kept posting pictures of teabaggers with appropriate commentary. I started the day with the South Park "Polly Prissy Pants" video of Cartmen's tea party, and then I posted a note with some real tax figures, a few graphs of spending under Bush, etc. She's probably spending the night huddled in a corner babbling to herself. :)

Let's face it, the whole purpose of these "tea parties" is to protest that a black guy got elected.

15. Also, they are protesting against "socialist" policies, which if they dare to think about it,
most of them are either benefitting from said policies, or have family members that are.

Social Security, Medicare, and State Disability are all "socialist" policies.

taking money from a customer on Social Security, State Disability or Public Assistance. I once had a landlord who constantly put down people on welfare, all the while collecting their rents through section 8 housing funds straight from the government. It never even dawned on him that he was making his living on Welfare.

12. This whole teabag thing is just so overwhelmingly stupid!
At least we had real grievances to protest! bush really did invade Iraq for no reason, he really did spy on Americans illegally, etc., etc., etc.

But what are these clowns protesting? Hell, they don't even know. They'll come out because they're mad that they lost the last two elections and Fox "News" told them to come out and be mad at a Tea Party. So out they will come, like the little robo-zombies they are. Who needs Beck's "comedy tour"? These people are comedy gold!

I am anticipating a rash of Youtube-style videos taken at these silly non-events that will keep us laughing (and cringing) for years to come.

21. Do you really think the current spending policies won't lead to future tax increase?
I think people are more sophisticated than you give them credit for. They see the dollars being spent since September (which includes the money Bush spent like a drunken George Bush on his way out the door) and realize that this bill is going to come due someday.

Bush deficits.
Bush TARP bailout.
Bush Auto Industry bailout.
Bush Wall Street Crash.

Hellllllllloooooooooo!

And for all those anti-Socialism sign-wavers, what part of socialism would you like to CUT???

Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the National Park System, the military (army, navy, marines, air force, coast guard), air traffic control, border patrol, national highway system, electrical grid, waterways, sewage systems, police, fire (local and national), education, court system.... THE LIST COULD BE LONGER.......

I guess when their parents and grandparents have to come live with them and use all their wealth (because these people MUST make over $250K what with their griping about a tax hike that still puts them with a lower percentage than under Reagan) on medicine and doctor bills... I guess THEN they'll embrace Socialism, huh?

OOH, and for the eejits that think they are now living under a Fascist regime?
Try taking a long look at Cheney and Gitmo and death squad and torture chambers and secret rooms and tribunals... THEN tell me who's the Fascist.

28. I wonder if the "Tea Baggers" know that Tea Bagging is slang for something done in Gay Bars..
I am sure that when this obscure term is revealed to the mass of idiots that fell for this scheme to rile up angry, helpless people, they will certinaly blame it all on the gay community.

I'm kind of amazed that this hasn't been mentioned here on DU already, but I think the time has come to let the cat out of the bag.

John Waters made a Hollywood reference to this in his film, Pecker, starring Edward Furlong and Christina Ricci. I thought it was hilarious, but I am positive that the idiots participating to todays Tea Bag rallies have rather large blinders on when it comes to viewing other segments of life in the world we live in.

It may only be a reference made up in the film for all I know, but it was memorable enough to stick in my memory after all these years.

As for tax day, well, I don't make money, I barter, so no 1099's, no taxes for me. I just will not work and support a society that is running a war machine gone wild. If that means being frugal, and living outside the economic system built to transfer wealth created by my labor, then so be it.

Something along the lines of that he didn't see any changes in his tax return when he filed this year vs. last year.

Well, he obviously either didn't get a raise or his taxes went up due to something the Bush administration pushed thru in 2008.

And Limbaught went right along with his willful ignorance and agreed w/the caller.

I'd like to see a system where I could direct the taxes I owe into certain activities, like Healthcare, social programs for the elderly, Education, research and development while at the same time that I will not support the military industrial complex, or corporate giveaways, or earmarks.

People would have the ability to shape policy by spending it on what matters for them.
