For First Time This Year, Majority of Americans Believe Nation Is Headed In Right Direction
Edited on Wed Apr-15-09 11:37 AM by ClarkUSA
A new Marist Poll finds that for the first time this year, more Americans -- 49% -- see the country moving in the right direction compared with 40% who think things are heading the wrong way. This includes a majority of registered voters -- 52% -- who feel the country's course is back on track... 51%... describes the country as moving in a positive direction... Even though 47% of Americans believe the economy has reached an equilibrium getting neither better nor worse, more than one-third feels things haven’t bottomed out yet... Most people — 78% — believe we are in for a long haul and don’t expect the economic picture to turn around for at least a year.

Know hope.

1. Perhaps a bit premature on my part, but I think the '10 midterms are looking pretty good...

2. A poll of the same group who thought going to War with Iraq was a great idea.

But what the heck, I guess polls help you gauge how well your latest marketing campaign is succeeding.

5. Apples and oranges much? WTF has that got to do with the OP?

Consumer confidence has tripled since February, mortgage refinancing has increased by 88% in the past month, and new home sales
has risen 2 months in a row for the first time in a year. Among the other indicators I can cite:

The best stock market month in six years… Consumer confidence and spending are up for the second consecutive month… Gallup
also finds “a significant improvement in public attitudes (about the economy) after nearly two years of downbeat forecasts.” (That’s
significant because consumer spending - and thus economic activity - rises along with consumer confidence)… Orders for “durable
goods” – refrigerators, autos, TVs, etc. – are up for the first time in six months… New home sales rose at their fastest pace in ten
months… Four banks have already paid back their “bailout” loans to the government and more are hurrying to do so (that some
seem to think “bailout” means a giveaway is consequence of the inaccuracy of the word), with Goldman-Sachs being the latest to
announce repayment… The renaissance of the renewable energy sector of the economy has begun…

Take your sour grapes somewhere else.

4. Well, it is..for
the first time in years. So in spite of the corporatemedia's constant manipulation and manufacturing news the majority of the American Public is seeing the light.

Thank goodness for the internet(Thank you, Al Gore(Prez)) and KO, Rachel, and all those in the media who stick to the facts.
